Gun Oil & Silicone Lube Shopping?

I was doing some Christmas shopping on Amazon, and I got suckered into the 30-day free trial of Prime. When I told my husband that we'd be fulfilling all of our Amazon shopping needs in the next month, he reminded me we were running out of silicone lube. Yep, we've finally almost made it through that 16-ounce bottle of ID Millennium that I got for a steal on an obscure website many years ago! Since then, Google's shopping search has changed to sponsored-only links, making it more difficult to price shop, so I'm hoping a fellow Litster has found an excellent deal on silicone lube more recently.

Anyway, the best deal I've found thus far is a 32 ounce bottle of Gun Oil Silicone Lube for $26.99 (84 cents/oz) on Amazon. I was initially turned off by the "for men" description in the title, but it appears Gun Oil's "for women" product (called Pink) has exactly the same ingredients, so I don't see a reason why hubby and I couldn't make this our new all purpose silicone lube. Am I missing something, or am I on the right track in thinking this is a great deal I should snap up?

It seems like the Gun Oil has pretty great reviews on every site I've visited, but I'd love to hear if anyone here has any criticisms, because, well, 32 ounces of silicone lube should last us a good 10 years or more!

What say you, silicone lube aficionados? :D

Well, I use "Pjur"

.... and I shop for lowest price, but not very vigorously, because a little bit goes a long way.
(A "price per hump" calculation tells me, that I should not worry about the price at all)

Fantastic lube! I think Gun Oil is the best in the silicone lube department. Their target customer has just always been men. I'm sure the Pink is identical to their other products

Bonus... I just picked up a bottle of Gun Oil Loaded last night. It's a water based/silicone/cream hybrid and it's AMAZING. Also seems to be geared towards men with the packaging. I also think this one is designed to simulate cum which it definitely succeeds at! Lasts as long as any silicone lube I've ever used and the website says it's "porous toy compatible".

Cumference, you're right, it works out to be in the "almost free" range if one were to calculate the cost per use!

However, I'm totally a sucker for knowing I got an amazing/the BEST deal on any given purchase! :D I'm not an extreme couponer or anything, but I definitely put time and effort into researching and shopping around and get a certain amount of satisfaction from buying quality at bargain prices. And having tried several brands of silicone lube over the years in the form of freebie sample packs and small bottles when we're traveling, it seems like they all work equally well for us, so I don't see a point in paying more for essentially the same product in different packaging.

It's great to hear another strong endorsement! And, yes, the Pink is identical to the pure silicone Gun Oil, it just comes in a more feminine bottle. Personally, I think it's huge a mistake for the company to brand it that way; I'd imagine it's confusing and a turn-off for many more potential customers than it attracts. I've always passed right by the Gun Oil for Men because the name implied it was only to be used externally/on male bits for jacking off. Even the explanation about safe uses in the FAQs on the Gun Oil site is kind of confusing:
What does topical and external use mean as it relates to the product directions?
The definition of external is an organ that is situated on or near the surface of the body. Therefore, as the mouth, vagina or anus open to the outside world, they are medically classified as external body organs. The key word is open. Subsequently the Gun Oil Products are meant to be used externally and topically (on top of).
I'm thinking they really need to hire a new head of brand strategy/marketing and move in a different direction. Or, shit, at least hire Silverwhisper to rewrite the many parts of the website that make little sense (the last FAQ says glycerin doesn't cause yeast infections, but can make them worse)!

I'm glad you found a new version you really like! :) I took a look at the Loaded ingredients out of curiosity, and pretty much every one of them is incompatible with my body for various reasons. :( I'll have to check into hybrid lubes more to see if anyone comes up with an irritant- and chemical-free version.

I pulled the trigger on the 32oz of Gun Oil, and it should arrive by the end of the month. I'll let you know if it hits the target. [Sorry, I just couldn't resist the puns!] Thanks for your help, guys! :rose:

very clever ;)

this thread's been a hell of an eye-opener--always reassuring to see that erika isn't going off half-cocked.

sorry!

Can't blame you for the amazing puns! I'm sure you'll be just as impressed with the pump action  bottle as you are the product. Don't spill that thing! What a nightmare that would be!

I use Wet Synergy and like it the best. It's a hybrid silicone and water based, but it's a bitch to get off unless you have a shower, but not runny and oily or thin and doesn't gum up like KY.

Interesting. :)

Sadly, that one also contains some ingredients I'm sensitive to, but I just remembered that we used to have a small bottle of a water-based lube that I didn't have trouble with other than we had to interrupt play to reapply multiple times. Once we got the silicone lube, I topped off the water-based lube bottle with maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the silicone. That 'hybrid' combo worked great for us.

The Wet Synergy page says it's 10% silicone, so I'm wondering if I could just buy an Erika-friendly water based lube and add 10% silicone lube by volume to create our own hybrid, assuming we had a need for one.

Theories are good, but they must be validated by experiments.
