Did I say I was going to PM her? Sunny asked why I hadn't and I explained my past experience with her as far as that went. Why would she lie if she didn't do it, Byron? Imagine my surprise when, last night, I logged on to find a pm waiting for me, linking to this thread, suggesting that there's much intrigue and gossip afoot. It had to be a particularly ferocious GB storm if notification was slopping over into my inbox.

So here I am, twenty pages and many hours later. May as well get it out, negativity and all, in one post.

I still don't (and hope I never will) understand what makes a person want to "stir up shit," let alone under an alt, especially in this case. The people behind this specific brouhaha were largely well-respected on the GB. By taking the puzzling step of creating trollish alts to voice their, shall we say, more unpleasant opinions, they diminished the validity of those opinions.

If a poster I admire makes a negative observation about another poster's character, I'm apt to take it into consideration. There's nothing about a troll that inspires me to do that.

Sidenote: I also suppose I'll never quite understand why catty sneering is so often touted as a sign of superior wit. Insults are so easy to come up with. It's much more difficult, though no less valid, to highlight a person's positive attributes.

Besides, the wits of this board aren't as razor-sharp as they think. The Algonquin Round Table, this isn't.

When guileful was posting, I levied the assessment that he was indeed artful when it came to manipulation, and noted how sad it was that all he used that skill for was to indulge in nastiness, hurt people for amusement's sake, and create problems where there hadn't been any before. My opinion hasn't changed in light of the revelations in this thread.

And this behind the scenes gossip...

We all do it. I speak with two or three Litsters off-board, and gossip with one of them. The gossipy portion of our convos are rare and brief.

After this thread, I feel good about keeping it that way. I used to feel guilty for not responding to pms and keeping up with other posters off-board. Not anymore.

The only time I took gossip out onto the board was purely for fun. I now wish I hadn't, because it's turned out to be related to this mess.

In any case, those who said she was too good for him are quite correct.

It should be a rather kick ass game. I just hope we can slow down those two backs. The general feelings towards this team are the highest they've been in some time. I just hope they don't get cocky and blow it, as our teams have in the past.

And actually, there are several excellent games this weekend. Good thing I already mowed the lawn, cuz, my ass is not leaving the couch all day Saturday. I just hope that Momma gets her rest, as she's going to get a workout bringing me my beer.
