GUESS CARD THREAD: The Imp chalenge

Okay, now I'm going to have to print the list and go back and read them again.
This was quite fun. :nana:

Neon? I assume you will undertake it in mid-April? If not, the Earl has already asked to be delegated the responsibility. Can we do a longer snippet next time, perhaps?

My feeling at the moment is to let Earl have the platform. I'm away from Lisbon 18 March to 12th April. Then in Madrid for a wedding for a couple of days, around 16th; by the time I return I'm hoping parts of my building will be liveable - builders start Tuesday. Given all of the unknowns, (and builders) probably better for Earl to run with it.

Everyone in agreement?

I'm looking forward to the next. I very much enjoyed seeing everyone's writing and getting a sample of each of your work. I think I guessed precisely one correct, but someone's got to come bottom of the class. :) At least I gave you all a boost to your scores with my own transparently obvious submission.

(PS - I agree to anyone moderating who wants to.)

Agree with any moderating influence. Can I suggest though, a full list of participants on the due date of submission? It was very hard to guess the participants, not knowing who was writing, and it would be nice to read stories of participating authors (since they play, they deserve) rather than non participating ones. :)

Anyone second the notion?

Seconded.

It would be nice to believe writers would not deliberately set out to obscure (their voice) - it rather defeats the point and renders the exercise to no more than a guessing game.

Not sure I follow. Are you suggesting a list of those who've agreed to play (and perhaps have submitted to the moderator) before the first submission is posted, so that there's a limited field? If so, I'm with you. And I agree with Neonlyte that trying to disguise the voice is a no-no. I admit to changing genre, but I didn't try to disguise my voice. I just set to and wrote.

Yes Alex, exactly. :)

EDIT: ONCE the deadline is met, and all players have stories in, we get a list as IMP gave with 2 - 4 dummies to make it more challenging. Although, I do believe the challenge can get greater the more we play, and the more we can challenge eachother.

Also, AGAIN THANKS TO IMP for inspiration, and for taking the beginning task on. It is and was a challenge in itself. Details, details

My contention was reading stories from people who were not participating because I thought they were. Their stories were good, and no offence, but to be rude (I am NOT beyond contradiction) in the context of this challenge only, it was waste, when I could have been reading and voting on those who participated?

No offence to anyone.

I agree with Neon, too.

LOL

Charley, you have such a way with words.

I agree with you and Alex, though. It's an entertaining challenge to guess who wrote what and a good side-effect is reading stories from people you have not yet read before. But you can't read randomly, there are too many authors for that.

And yes, thank you Imp for starting this party.
