Greta!

The entire thing is so mind-boggling stupid.
And reminiscent of Mao's China.
To bring a 16-year-old autistic kid to pontificate on things that even adults struggle to fully understand.

I'm sure that most people think the same.
How politically correct or afraid of opprobrium do you have to be, to pretend that it's an awesome thing?

The Emperor has no clothes.

Most adults with a modicum of intelligence understand the consequences of climate change. Sure, there are die-hard Luddites like Trysail who refuse to acknowledge the obvious, but their number shrinks with each passing year.

"Opprobrium"? My goodness, for an ESL "Pakistani immigrant", your command of the nuances of the English language has become quite extraordinary in the short time you've been here.

Dude.
I'm not disputing Climate change, I believe in it too. Just the method employed.

One only used to see that type of circus in documentaries about commie China.

I'm flabbergasted that Western media or Elite are employing such Mao-ist tactics.
Like using that Syrian kid to tweet under "her English speaking mother's guidance" as propaganda for Western proxy wars.

Laypeople, particularly the working class have common sense and low tolerance for nonsense. I'm sure that they're onto the bullshit.

I just watched Greta's speech to the United Nations. I'd never seen her speak before so I thought I'd take a gander.

That's the funniest goddamned thing I've seen in years.

That girl is obviously nutty as a fruitcake. She's an out-and-out loony.

She was obviously coached by "SUPER LUNES"

Apparently, she and other children from around the world filed a lawsuit against Germany, France, Brazil, Argentina and Turkey.

Yet China and Qatar are the biggest polluters after the US, and I doubt that they're doing anything that would jeopardize their economies.

France is quite low on the list of CO2 emitting countries.
Nevermind that they're having weekly yellow vest protests due to declining quality of life and carbon taxes.

Why are some countries asked to make sacrifices for the common good, and others not?
There must be some political motivation.

Whether or not you agree with her point of view, young people being passionate about making a better world is a good thing. It's when they give up on the world and aspire to nothing more than the next fix that I despair.

She's young, naive, primarily communicating in a second language, and autistic. Anyone making personal attacks on the kid needs punching in the throat. Repeatedly.

This isn't about young people making the world a better place, this is about older elitess fanatics projecting their ideology behind the facade of innocent children. There is a global attempt at brainwashing our children, despicable behavior. To embark on the path that that young lady preaches will have them living in caves and set humanity back 5000 years. It's one thing to believe and act on global warming and climate change, " smartly" using all methods available as technology advances, but to advance a wholesale ban on fossil fuels in 10 years is a senseless suicidal fantasy.

A tale of two speeches

hmmm. Deplorables in this thread sure have a problem with kids who speak from their heart about deplorable idiocy.

Then, this morning, in the same UN forum that hosted Greta, Trump droned on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, in the most boring monotones he's ever invoked. But, oh man, he really brought the house down with his pet theory that world problems will magically be fixed if each country focuses on its own interests.

I wonder which speech will be remembered?

HOGG: children have absolute authority in politics

GRETA: how dare you criticize a political child, you monster

COVINGTON: children should be smeared with lies, ridicule, and cyberbullying if they wear a smirk and a hat

lol

Sad, but true...

Speaking from a conservative point of view, I have no issue with kids speaking from the heart as long as we understand that they are kids. What I take issue with are global elitist fanatics using children to shield themselves in order to project a seriously flawed agenda. That's a cowardly way to do business. Her speech was well spoken for a young girl but it was little on substance and loaded with emotion and innuendo, very much a lefty MO. When the left criticizes the use of fossil fuels but refuses to include all forms of clean energy production, they are hypocrites and can't be taken seriously. Setting mankind back 5,000 years for the sake of a flawed ideology is just stupid. I never hear criticism aimed at China or India, you know why? Cuz they'll tell you to fuck off!

Inoculating Human Shields

Another fallacy too; if you deny the children's lament, they you deny (/hate) children.

If children were so wise, then we (in the US) should say that
no one over the age of 35 is qualified to be President.

;) ;)

Classic Reductio ad absurdum fallacy.

Didja see President Jimmy Carter's opinion the other day that nobody over age 80 could handle the stress of being president?

Poor kid —

she’s just a younger, more vulnerable Cindy Sheehan, and like Sheehan will be discarded as soon as she’s no longer of use. In the meantime, her moral theatrics have grown tedious.

Pumping out trillions of gallons of oil and burning it does NOTHING to the atmosphere.

The laws of physics cease to exist.

Just because.

Wrong, wrong and wrong again.

Excellent reference.

Who did you steal it from?

Do you have any understanding of the ppm that is under consideration?

In a chaotic system, that is not a strange attractor, but a minuscule input
to the bifurcation that is climate. Water vapor, for example in more important...

Have you not noticed that the 'niers' (de-deniers) will never admit to any other
natural ongoing cycle of eternal climate change? Especially the sun's output?

And that’s precisely why they've been vigorously promoting her as the figurehead of their campaign!

Her parents and those working behind the scenes are despicable and unscrupulous, I hope that their propagandising of her doesn’t have any serious consequences. They are responsible for this and no one else.

Woof!
