What are the greek letters represent in advanced physics and mathematics?

* that one actually stands for asshole...see how it looks like a lil asshole? **** 4 lil assholes? yup....true story.

Actually * is typically used to denote multiplication on a computer, not to be confused with x which is a variable.
ie. 3y+4x+13=0
ie. 4x*2=8x

However if you are doing simple mathematics and not algebra, then you could use x
ie. 4x2=8

Ok, I thought That was funny, of course I'm ripped, but, fuck it, it fit the bill.

Please explain, what is a "variable"?
