This morning, something I considered a great line I'd written popped into my mind. But I couldn't remember the story.

I spent a couple of hours trying to remember and then searched my stuff until I found it.

In another case, I pulled up the idea for a story where a foundational opening scene was written. I can't remember EVER writing it!
I'm wondering if I copied it from somewhere. I've searched the internet but nothing.

Does anybody else have experiences like that?

Yes I’ve had this kicking around my brain for nearly 30 years, I heard it on a radio play but can’t find the source anywhere. Did I dream it?

She: Tell me a lie that isn’t a lie
He: I don’t know how to love you

It’s like a romantic zen Buddhist koan I’ve tried to figure out.

Reminds of the line from Lloyd Cole's song, Opposites Day:

"The next line is the truth. The last line was a lie."
