Just for fun, I thought maybe I would start a thread on good-to-great ideas people have on any topic they want to post about. From recipes, to craft idea, to vacation planning, to holiday gift ideas - to just about anything that comes to mind.
Maybe it will die on the vine as a thread, but maybe a combination of spontaneous posting of ideas, with requests for ideas on something might just be a worthwhile thread?
Here's my initial contribution:
I was noticing the dates on the coins I had in my pocket one day. I noticed that a few of the dates were the same year as when my two kids were born (1983 and 1988). That got me thinking. Since neither is married yet, if I saved up all the coins that were the date of their birth or earlier, that might make a fun gift for any grandchildren they give to me later on.
So, I started separating the coins into 1983 and 1988 piles, hoping to get my hands on each possible coin in circulation for those dates, and also saving coins that are earlier minted than those dates. I am just putting them in zip lock bags now to save them, and I have a few from the 1940's I have stumbled upon.
I am envisioning sitting down with a grandchild when they are 6 or 7 years old, and getting out a container of old coins just for them - coins that are at least as old as their mom or dad are.
Might not be anything Earth-shaking, but I thought I'd share this as my first contribution.
