Gov. Kathy Hochul Kicked In The Butt

You sound like a broken record. If they can get to a port of entry without passing through another eligible nation or make application at a US embassy or consulate then they are entirely within their rights. Ignoring international law just because the current administration is turning a blind eye doesn't make it legal, or right.

And for the moron's that are trying their best to make this all about color. So far the illegals represent 80+ different nations. Asia, Europe, the Mid East, South and Central America, Africa, the Caribbean, and Oceania. They are of every color and creed imaginable and I make NO distinction between them.

As a side note, the Mexican national population here in the US have been self-deporting for 10 years now, a net negative immigration pattern. The reason for this is that Mexico is in the midst of industrialization. Their prospects of advancement are better in Mexico than they are here in the US. Mexico is not admitting ANY immigrants because they happen to be a sane nation that is putting their own citizens first. Does that make them evil?
All valid points. I would just add that migrants who don’t qualify for asylum are crossing the border anyway because they have little reason to think they will be expelled.

If you want to put a stop to that, the thing to do would be to crack down on employers who hire illegals because they'll work for less. But I can imagine what you think of the government having any authority at all over business.

I'm in 100% agreement on that point. As a matter of fact I would like to see the hiring of illegals promoted from a misdemeanor to a felony.

Then you'd just bitch about the increase in price of said products or service....

I'd love to see you lay the same feverish "cockroach" designation to anyone except those with brown skin on down and non-Anglo names. I'd even pay to see you do it in person face-to-face, where it actually carries real weight.

cuz you sure don't do it here.

I’m all for employers following immigration laws. I’ve worked for large companies that took I9 forms very seriously. But the majority of jobs in the US are created by smart businesses. It’s unrealistic to expect restaurant owners, plumbing firms, insurance agencies, real estate brokerages, building contractors, etc to be the primary agencies for immigration law enforcement.

It sounds like you don't trust business leaders to do the right thing without being forced to. Hey, neither do I...but that is the polar opposite of the attitude you usually present here.

The eVerify system is up and running. It's not mandatory but it's available. So even the small business owner has no excuse. Now, there is a problem with the trafficking of bogus SS numbers. But the applicant does have recourse in that situation.

Providing proper forms and filing them properly isn't really enforcement of immigration laws. It's following the law. Enforcement would be when the company is caught not filing proper forms.

They aren't being forced to because the government isn't enforcing the law.

Now you're getting closer to the truth.
Since I was talking about employers not being prosecuted for not adhering to the law, I doubt it's the truth you want to focus on. You probably wouldn't call them cockroaches.

I don’t trust or expect small business owners to be primary immigration law enforcement agencies. I expect law enforcement agencies like ICE, CBP, DHS, FBI, etc to do their jobs. That’s why they exist.

I know what you were talking about the fact that I consider ALL illegals cockroaches not withstanding.

There are certain employers that willfully take advantage of the fact that the Feds aren't enforcing the laws. That leads to the 'employees' being held/treated abysmally. In effect they are little more than slaves. If I were in support of that sort of behavior then I'd be all in on the current policy, a de facto open border with those crossing the border being considered illegal. The perfect formula for human labor exploitation.

Since they're cockroaches, I'm sure you don't care about their working conditions.

eVerify is voluntary in most states, and illegal in at least one, and is not easy or cost free to administer for small businesses. Especially burdensome for industries with transitory, high turnover workforces such as retail and hospitality. Accuracy, identify theft protection, reporting, record keeping, etc are easier for larger companies with relatively stable workforces. I’m not opposed to it. I’ve brought my passport to work as part of the process with several corporations I worked for over the years.

Reality is the Biden administration is not making a serious effort to discourage migrants who don’t qualify for asylum from crossing our borders. And many states and cities advertise themselves as sanctuaries for illegal aliens. Many police departments aren’t even allowed to cooperate with ICE.

All true and all part of the illegal immigration storm.

What befuddles me is that so many of those that are sympathetic to illegals haven't thought through the consequences of their policies, both here and in the illegals home nations. There is no upside to this policy.

If they are within the border and claim asylum, their case is heard.

You can bitch about it all you want. There are multiple ways to do it and they chose that one.

The word evil is a religious term....not my thing. I don't live in Mexico, but if I did, I'd lobby to change their immigration laws if those laws denied people asylum or other avenue of migration.

You consistently obfuscate what you are arguing. Immigration, and its many facets, is a complex issue. Human beings are not cockroaches. Immigration laws are not immutable. Countries have a right to change their laws. The US law allows asylum claims within the border.
No illegal alien deserves a hearing, they deserve to be forced back across the border and told to enter through ports of entry using legal means.

Sounds like you want to change the law. May want to work on that instead of attempting to ignore it.

Entering the country and claiming asylum is entering through legal means.
