I love to do lots of crafts. My most recent ones are making soap, and gel candles. They are quick and easy to do, and look great when they are done. Just last weekend, a friend and I found some paint called liquid rainbow. It dries translucent, and looks so good on glass. We bought a ton of glass wear and painted up a storm.

I can cross stitch, but I don't much anymore.

Other hobbies are dancing. I took lots of lessons when I was younger, and have kept at it over the years. I like to read alot, and watch movies. I role play with my husband, and others on a MUD, as well.

I think that's about it... other then reading erotic stories, of course.

throwing pots (when I have access to a wheel)

Pacific blue..... I LOVE THAT!!!!!! I think you'll do wonderful. Mermaids are a facination of mine. I saw something one time off the coast of New England... specifically of the coast of Maine, Bar Harbor area, in Summer, on day in the 80's, when I was picking blueberries up on a cliff. I saw something in the water, but I don't even want to say that it wasn't my imagination, which is fine, but I have been sucked into the lore ever since.

Batter, I saw your pics over there, and they are lovely. I love Bee balm. Do you ever make tea out of it for colds? It is wonderful. The native Americans of the Seneca Nation call it Oswego tea. Try it, it is good with honey.


I have been doing bonsai for only 5 years, but I have a strong botany and Arboriculture education, that is somewhat essential to be able to work with these trees. There is a lot to know about it, so it isn't easy, that's for sure, but I will say that it is not hard to deal with a tree or two if you know your basics of Tree physiology, and the principle concepts of the cycle of their lives.
Over the winter, I will be putting together an educational webpage on the subject that I'll link you to when it starts to come together. But in order to do that I must compile my info somehow.... ahh.... a thread idea.

Okay, let me get my files ready, and I'll make a thread about this shit.

BTW, I love your penguin.. Don't let scylis see that!

I sing...in a barbershop quartet, and in a barbershop chorus. I also direct a different barbershop chorus.

i like crafts (clay pot crafts) cross-stitch and of course my flower beds.
i also like to bowl 5 pin and play my 12 string guitar.

gardening (weeds don't stand a chance with me when I'm in a bad mood)

stained glass panels & window ornaments (though I quit that once I got preggers with my daughter ... fear of fetal damage from the lead ... guess it's safe to go back to it now that she's 10 )

Well... -smiles sheepishly- I don't make it.. I melt it, and mold it. Add things to it, like herbs, glitter, bells for holidays, little rubber duckies for the kids, etc.

Incedently, this weekend, a friend and I got together, and made TONS of gel candles. I love making those. I think over all, we used just under 9 pounds of wax in making them. I made.. hmm... Lord, probably 5, or champagne glasses, a couple of seascape ones, and some of the fruit preservatives types.

Mmm.... Suger Cookie scent is yummy....

i need some help!!

i am trying to find an easy way of removing the finish off of bowling pins.
i need to get them down to the bare wood for some more crafts.

i worked on one pin, i had to strip off the outside layer of acrylic. that was fairly easy. then there is the layer of plastic/fiberglass which has a cloth mesh against the wood itself. i have tried different drill attachments and wire strippers, and wire brushes but found lots, and i mean LOTS, of heavy duty paint stripper helped. then i used a wood chisel to shave off the plastic/fiberglass layer and used an electric sander on the cloth mesh to get to the wood.
anyone have a better and easier way?

Some craft stores, I think, sell plain wodden bowling pins. I say I think, because I have seen bowling pin animals displayed at arts n crafts stores, but have never looked for the pins themselves. (Mainly, cause I can't PAINT!!!)

i have looked at the craft stores around here and out of town and have had no luck, but thankyou for the suggestions.

Have you tried searching online? Maybe check ebay for auctions of finished ones, and ask the people who sell them what they do for pins?

I tried a search for bowling pin art on yahoo, and got zip back.
