"Luck" is for losers. Genes absolutely count.
Wait. Please don't tell me I barged into a conversation about the talented tenth! I just got a flashback of my mom forcing my sister to sing To Be Young Gifted and Black for her music camp audition.
If only it did.Imagine the need for no child protection services/social service intervention in to family life.
I think its better to regret not having had children, than to regret having had them.
If I had to guess which is worse I'd think so too. Hard for the parents, hard for the child if you're talking about people who feel trapped by their choices. In the not feeling particularly trapped department....a cousin of mine was basically orphaned by both his parents and was brought up by other loving relatives, but he was haunted by the disappearance of his mother, in particular. I'll never know how his mom feels about it, but for his father ... while the regrets about what he did to his son came much later, I doubt he regrets siring him.
