Goodbyes Are The Pits

LOL, thanks for the laughs Sierra and graceanne..came in handy this morning. Have been racing against the clock all week to get this kitchen ready and am still behind and aching all over so what happens?!! First thing this morning the power disappears. Of course the power box was different to what I am used to and in Dutch so that was little use, my phones had been knocked loose and I didn't realise so I had no phone contact (though who would I call when I don't understand what those recorded messages are telling me to do:rolleyes: ). Phoned a certain man on the little credit left on the mobile and that didn't help. Tried to think positive that perhaps all the houses had lost power so would just have to wait...but that never works for me for long.

The one neighbour I have met was out so got brave and asked her neighbour if she had power which she did, then got her paniced for me as she said her husband takes care of all such things and she wouldn't even know who to call. Finally saw another neighbour out shaking her mats so tried again. LOL, she immediately called her husband who was only too pleased to come take a look and show me how to tell if it was all working. He found the problem in 5 minutes and with a chuckle had everything burring away in no time. ROFLMAO, one way to meet the neighbours, covered in plaster, hair a mess, and needy. Sheesh, think I wiull have to have a coffee morning once the house is presentable. So back to plastering and painting and trying to step around all the bits and pieces.

OMG talk abouta day that you wish you hadn't gotten out of bed! *big hug* I hope your day improves. And look at the bright side, all this'll help motivate you to get to know your neighbors a bit better. I always introduce myself to my neighbors, but that's for several reasons. The biggest is that I feel safer. Then I know what everyone looks like in our neighborhood, and can tell if theres a stranger around. With three small kids you can never be too careful. The other? I'm a chatterbox, always looking for someone to talk to. lol I know, it's hard to believe that i talk a lot, but . . . there you go. :D

LOL, I am actually looking forward to meeting everyone, but we have been a bit quiet until the house is presentable. Is a friendly neighbourhood (actually had a few neighbourhood children welcome us when we moved in, and we fed them well when they came singing for Sint Nicholaus...had to go out to refresh supplies!!) where I am told everyone knows each other and helps out if anyone needs it, and is a mix of various cultures which suits us also as we are cross cultural ourselves. Being a mix of cultures also means we have access to some fairly diverse and beautiful foods too though that is not going to be good while we try to lose weight I suspect. I think I am going to love living here.

Wow, i'm so jealous. Someday I want to live in a neighborhood like that. I always try to get my neighborhoods like that, but it never works. I threw a bar b que for the neighborhood i'm in now, but no one showed, things like that. I'm the friendly one everyone knows, and that's about it. But I have one set of neighbors that are fresh from Japan, and I'd love to get to know them, and learn about Japan, and all, but they're really stand offish, and I don't want to be pushy. Then another set are Russian, but they don't speak english, and I don't speak russian, so we just wave and say hi when we see eachother. *sigh* Someday I want to go to all those places, and learn about all their foods and cultures and all that. You know, right after I win the lottery. lol

Small problem - i don't play the lottery!

What a difference a day makes!!

Today has startedbetter than yesterday with the kitchen being delivered early and by nice young men who were friendly, polite, and helpful and checked out my plastering efforts and though it was going great.:) So here is half my kitchen made ready.......think I am developing a fetish for clean and tidy....notice how neat and clean I left the demolition work place last night and seem to be doing each day?

...LOL, and my new downsized (to make room to store the new kitchen until it is installed next week), renovation ongoing living room. Is now a third of it's size, the rest being used for storage and a section for makeshift kitchen complete with working stove and fridge!! I am becoming creative in ways I never imagined possible.:D

Ta...and that could come in the next day or 2 as I have to have it all done by Monday morning so have decided I had better tackle taking the remaining cupboard off but hopefully re-establishing the plumbing temporarily so first we have water in the house for the weekend and also so I can minimise bother in completing all this. Have taken some time off today but decided tonight it is time to get back to it, aching hands or not!!

Looks great Catalina!!!

Congrats on learning that you are a handy woman!! :D

Wonderful what you can discover you can do when you have no choice....seems to be my pattern with study and most things...push me up against the wall with no other choice and I calm down and just get on with it.

What a lousy day...depression from missing him, slipped with the metal hammer and got my wrist instead, spent hours trying unsuccessfully to undo the last pipe in the kitchen, and now he is upset with me because I told his friend I was concerned about his safety. Some days you can't win no matter how hard you try.

i hope things are going better for you!!! :rose:

Thanks, it is. We just don't cope with being separated that well it seems, so are now counting down the days until he is home. Oh, and today the new kitchen was installed....lol, I was concerned about using it because I was sure I would do something stupid to damage it. Managed to get some things into cupboards though. This is a pic of my favourite side of the room now.....all we need to do is finish it off with a floor, tiles, and light fitting, and it will be just about perfect.

Oh, and on Masterful One's orders, and son's insistence, after finishing the painting of the kitchen yesterday I let my son drag me on a tour of the neighbourhood I had been putting off while trying to get this work done. :D I love this place even more now. Apart from the great canals, the few minutes walk to the lake where it is quiet and beautiful, and the multicultural atmosphere, I got some great inspiration from a local store to get back in the shape I was accustomed to.....think this is yum....

Hi Catalina...I hope you don't mind me posting to your thread but I will probably be saying goodbye to Master next week for a few days. My father has been in hospital and has been having more seizures, which have caused some brain damage - they seem to think he may have even had a stroke :( My mother had a call from the social worker this morning and she was told he is not well enough to go home again and will have to go into a nursing home :(

My brother and his family are right there for her and she did say not to rush over (and if anything did happen not to feel guilty, because I was there for them for years). But Master is insisting I go sooner rather than later, because He knows I will be fretting. I am so torn because they both need me......but He says He will be able to look after Himself for a few days, He did it before I came along and He says He will make sure nothing happens to Him because He wants to continue to get spoilt.....

Oh I am sorry to hear you are going through such a difficult time.......my heart goes out to you and you will be in my thoughts and prayers. As hard as it is going to be, I think you are making the wise decision in going home sooner rather than later. I know with my own father I had been planning to go home and see him but kept putting it off for one thing or another until it was too late. You can't turn the clock back, nor can you perform magic, but to have that chance to say goodbye while you can is a blessing and something you will have always then. Take care and let your Master's love keep you feeling safe and strong until you return.

Thank you Catalina :rose: I will be checking plane schedules and organising a ticket in the next day or two. He had seemed to be doing so well and this has been very sudden deterioration. They have my email and mobile phone number if there is an emergency.

My brother's house is right next door to Mum so I will be able to have email contact with Master, and I have a phone card so I can ring Him. It is going to be so hard to leave Him but hopefully it won't be for too long :(

Hmmm, hope Masterful One does not mind I have been totally dependant on George Michael while he has been gone......think there has only been one night I could get to sleep without the Patience album sending me drifting off to sleep with a sense of pleasant bliss. Tried other music but nothing seemed to work so well as this one, nothing else calmed the mind and soul with such soft and tender caresses. What is a slave to do when she misses her Master so bad she can't sleep without him?!! ...And sheep didn't work either.

*smiles, imagining the reunion when Francisco returns* ;) :p

I am flying back to NZ next Wednesday evening, managed to get a one way ticket on a budget airline for $231AU which is damn good for this time of the year! Master has told me to stay as long as necessary, but we will both be missing each other like crazy.....:(

LOL, yes I imagine tomorrow will not see anything being done on this house or Christmas. It is good you were able to get the ticket and I can imagine the mixed emotions you are going through right now. It is not an easy situation to be in, nor something that can be avoided. You can only do what you feel is needed right now and think about tomorrow when it comes. Your strength and love will get you through these times.

I am saying goodbye tomorrow evening....it will be so hard for us both. But He may have a friend coming to stay to keep an eye on Him, so He won't be alone - there are a busy few days of Speedway meetings which will keep Him busy but it does tire Him out a lot (He works on the crash crew).

I have been ordered ;) to have a good time with my family and friends and not to worry - but that is one order that will be so hard to obey! :)
