I know Abs and I haven't been around much lately. Life has kind of taken on a life of it's own, so to speak. But we still think about all our friends here often and wish you all well.

I know many of you here are close to Abs. Just wanted to let you know that sadly, her father passed away last night.

Please keep her and family in your thoughts.

If it makes you feel any better, here is a short story:

I was hitchhiking in the mid-seventies and a truck driver
pulled his eighteen wheeler over at the stop and got out
of his cab.

He says "Boy, you need a ride?"

"Yes Sir I do, I need to get to Michigan!"

When we got back on the road, he told me all sorts of things.

He said "Son, we are living in Hell, and when we die, we go
to Heaven."

"Hey mister, there is a dog in the middle of the median walking
back and forth"

He stops the truck, then I run over into the median. The dog is
a full blood German Shepard puppy about six months old. She
runs up to me and knocks me over! She is so happy!

There is no exit here, so I pick her up and carry her to the fence
and drop her over. She looks up at me and whimpers when I
start to walk away.

I turn around, jump over the fence, and she follows me down
through the field to the nearest house.

I knock on the door and ask if they would like a dog.

The man slams the door shut, but it opens again and a woman
says "Oh what a beautiful dog!"

The man says "We don't another dog!"

The dog runs in the house and the woman says "God Bless you
sweetheart, then closes the door."

Thank you all for the many well wishes, thoughts and prayers.

My Dad's passing was unexpected though he had been sick for a while. I feel very fortunate that I was able to spend his last minutes with him.

He had an amazing funeral, given military honors and surrounded by family.

I also wanted to thank my Vana, for her constant love and support not just to me, but to Mom and Sis and the kids, I don't know how I would have gotten through this without her. Thank you, Baby.
