All right, what are you guy's favorite movies? Anyone else like Dr. Stangelove?

A whopping 80% survival rate!

Dr. Strangelove is a goodie, no doubt.

My personal faves are The Third Man (zither music and the Vienna Sewer, like chocolate and peanut butter); The Long Good Friday with Bob Hoskins (it hurts an American to admit but this British movie might be better than The Godfather Parts I and II); The Big Sleep (Bogie and Bacall, 'nuff said). For any of these, I will drop what I am doing and watch.

The funniest movie I like is Duck Soup, although This is Spinal Tap is a guilty pleasure.

Oh, yes -- The Long Good Friday is a great movie!!!

So is The Big Sleep, and Duck Soup is in a category all to itself.

I can't think of one movie, or a small list of movies, as favorites. There are just so many, each answering a need.

Pin me down, though, and I will probably say The Gold Rush or The General. Both just make me howl.

THE PRINCESS BRIDE!

*cough* Though the book was better. I digress. My top ten movies, in quasi-random order:

As good as it gets
The wind and the lion
The princess bride
Dogma
Braveheart
Earth girls are easy
Girl, interrupted
Pick anything James Bond
Shining through
Roxanne

Here we go again.

Some of my favorites are:

A Bronx Tale
A Few Good Men
Aliens
As Good As it Gets
Braveheart
Contact
Dave
Forest Gump
Four Weddings And A Funeral
Good Morning Vietnam
Good Will Hunting
GoodFellas
Lethal Weapons
Patch Adams
Schindlers List
Seven
Shine
Silence Of The Lambs
Sleepers
The Blues Brothers
The Devil's Advocate
The Fifth Element
The Fisher King
The Full Monty
The Game
The Shawshank Redemption
White Squall

Like CreamyLady, I have too many to list. A few that I have seen over and over are:

Forbidden Planet
Big Jake
Blazing Saddles
Young Frankenstein
Star Wars
Taboo (had to slip one adult film in there!)
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn
All of Me
Saving Private Ryan
The Horse Soldiers
Chisum
The Wizard of Oz

I know that list is heavy on John Wayne, but I'm a big fan!

A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT

THE HORSE WHISPERER

LONESOME DOVE

CENTENNIAL

SCHINDLERS LIST

ROOTS

COLORADO COWBOY

The Thin Man movies.

These are great movies. I always wanted a dog like Asta and a wife like Myrna Loy. I got the wife part but ended up with cats.

If there is a second flight in this competition for B Movies, my vote has to go to Spider Baby.

Depending on the time and day, these are my favorites.

The Shawshank Redemption
Forrest Gump
Pulp Fiction
Breakfast at Tiffanies
The Breakfast Club

I love HEAPS of movies, and I'm leaving out a lot so don't be surprised if I update this list, but those first 4 are pure gold to me, and I've only seen The Breakfast Club once, but I loved it.

Patch Adams

Patch Adams? No offense, but that movie made me want to throw a brick at the tv. But then, I have strong feelings like that toward a lot of movies. Like Gladiator.

Funny guy.

One of the reasons I like Patch Adams is that is shows that when it comes to healing people, something more than medicine can help. And it also shows that people instead of being against trying new ways of doing things, should be open towards it, and not dismiss it before you atleast have given it a try.

LMAO... My wife likes "Patch Adams", and I piss her off by calling it, "Insert Name of Favorite Robin Williams Movie Here"... Hehehe... Not much about it that's original.

For the record, we got a DVD player about a month and a half ago and the first 5 DVDs we purchased were:

"Shawshank Redemption"
"The Right Stuff"
"Dogma"
"Little Mermaid"
"Shakespeare in Love"

Since then we've just continued buying anything with Brad Pitt/Tom Hanks/Bruce Willis/Ben Affleck in it (Guess who picks the movies in my house?) - or any Disney movie. Sometimes I get lucky and she'll find a movie that has more than one of them in it... (Yes, we've got "Armageddon" and "12 Monkeys" now also).

The Right Stuff

"Hey Ridley...ya got any Beeman's?"

"Yeah I think a got me a stick.."

"well loan me one, I'll pay ya back later"

"fair 'nuff"

"I think I see a plane over there with my name on it."

"Alright, now yer talking"

Good call Lash, one of my favorites of all time...actually though, I have too many to make a list...it would fairly bring the server down just trying to load it probably...that's what I get for being a lonely kid that wanted to be an actor I guess..*sigh* Oh well, at least I don't have to worry about having enough money to eat...

Havoc

I Still cant watch Armageddon without crying my eyes out. And The Green Mile...who bawled at that one????

I saw American Beauty last night and I thought that was one of the best films that I have seen in a very long time.

On a sadder note, I saw Fight Club and I was like WTF. Maybe I missed the whole point of the movie but it was terrible.

Where the heck's the Monty Python, people? I could watch The Meaning of Life/The Life of Brian/The Search for the Holy Grail over and over until I was almost comatose from laughing so hard.
And you, Skibum, you say you're a John Wayne fan but you fail to mention The Quiet Man? I remember really watching that movie at around 10-12 years of age and wishing good ole John would throw me on a bed and break it....then shut the door and spank me (although at that age I didn't quite understand why).

My list would include:
The Meaning of Life
The Search for the Holy Grail
The Quiet Man
Terms of Endearment (yes, mush)
Schindler List
The Joy Luck Club (mother/daughter mush)
To Catch a Thief (and anything else with Cary Grant)
Pulp Fiction (wonderfully grotesque violence)
plus others I can't seem to remember

Lots of flicks make my wonderful list and depending on the weather and my hair it can vary. Today I can think of a couple that are excellent.

American Beauty
River Runs Through It
Phil. Story
In search of the Holy Grail
Silence of the Lambs
Casa Blanca
Blade Runner

Think that should cover a number of areas but I still have many that I enjoy over and over.
