good horror movies

I usually wander into a Redwave or ppman thread. Their lack of reason and extreme tunnel vision is the scariest thing since Geena Davis having her own show.

I'm doing the scary movie thing this year and am not much of a horror movie buff so please suggest something. I have The Cell and Thirteen Ghost on DVD and really like those. But I can't stand those lame 2 dollar budget movies, you know?

Hey.... I liked that Genna Davis show!! (lol)

For horror movies depends what kind you are looking for really... there are the gross/bloody ones... the ones with a story but no gore and the ones taht just plain suck (lol) I rank Jason X as one of the worst... plain laughable. I love all the Scream movies, for Vintage the Nightmare on Elm Street are always bloody and I watched House on Haunted Hill yesterday which was pretty decent.

I thought that the Faces of Death movies were just plain gross but I was really amused by the sick humor of Thirteen Ghosts with the guy getting sliced in half. I find humor in darkness as long as it's intelligently written and ironically or artisticly grotesque, like in Final Destination when the girl gets impaled by the bus. That was haha funny. ROTFALMAO

I guess that's why I'm into Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.

hellraiser 2,videodrome (with debbie harry), night of the creeps and rosemarys baby.

Rosemary's Baby was a good one. It's up there with Flowers In the Attic.
As for you limpstick, I hope the goblins get you.
 :p

They are making Final Destination II ... if u care (lol) If not file it under useless information. (That bus thing was pretty cool btw)

Silence of the lambs is always good and I loved one called 'Brain Scan'... pretty cool story line.

She wasn't so much impaled by the bus as she was crushed by it. That was fucked up how she was mangled by the bus.

House on Haunted Hill (1999)
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2-4
Poltergeist
Night of the Living Dead (pick a year)
Final Destination

I hear The Ring is good, too.

Pokemon 4

all those kids assembled in one staging place, sounds like a coup and not a single Chuckey Cheese is safe.

night of the creeps is good for that dark humor thing~very good b movie about alien slugs that invade a college campus and turn people into zombies...lot of jump from your seat moments too.

the evil dead 2 : dead by dawn is *great* for a halloween movie. for a b~horror movie it has great special effects (for the time) and los of groaning laughs.

dead alive is another one. a new zealand film i believe. ive recommended it here before. another zombie~outbreak flick this one become over the top gory to a point its hysterical.

don't forget the first two halloween movies.

I have to agree with glamorilla here...

what would halloween be without a little dose of Michael Myers!!

I would avoicd the last two Halloween movies though.

hey! I happen to (for some odd reason) Like the game!

But if you want something scary, try pokemon 5. Just when you think its safe to go back to anime movies, it returns

Kwaidan… It’s a very good movie. I wouldn’t call it a horror movie, though. It is creepy… just not gruesome.

The Nightmare on Elm Street are my all-time favorites:D
Mirror, Mirror is awesome--a girl becomes possessed by an evil mirror, lots of blood
Sleepy Hollow was excellent

Plus, the chick was really hot. I'm glad I'm not the only person on the planet who liked that movie.

I also nominate Halloween 1 and 2. I liked the first Blair Witch, but that's lost something with the press attention it got. It's good if you can get into it though.

Any of the Romero "Dead" movies, Night of, Dawn of, Day of...all really really good.

I liked Resident Evil, i thought it was well done, i'm a SUCKER for zombies though.

Evil Dead or Evil Dead 2...the first one was being taken too seriously, i'm happy that they spoofed themselves in the sequel.

I'm a big fan of cheesy horror movies though...that makes the entire "halloween" experiance for me...crappy ass horror movies rule.

I am more of a "classic" horror movie fan, if you will.

The original Night of the Living Dead
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Frankenstein
Nosferatu

That sort of thing
