Going, Going, Gone. Sold.

Melody (a.k.a. "Marina")

As Melody found herself being pushed together with a group of others, there was a commotion from behind.

She saw... a woman chained to a wall, snarling at an auction official. She found herself staring, and thinking about someone else other than herself for the first time in quite a few hours. The woman looked striking with her shaved head and the iron glint in her eyes. Melody mildly wondered what horrible offense she commited to be sold as a slave against her will. Well whatever it was, Melody thought, the woman probably deserved her fate.

And then there was no time to be distracted any longer. Melody found herself being hustled along with about nine other slaves towards the bidding block.

As she stepped up to the observation block her heart sank and panic began to rise again. What was she doing? Was she crazy? Letting herself be sold as a lowly slave? Who knew what sort of owner she might end up with!

She forced her panic down -- she had no choice. What could she do now? Change her mind, run to an official and tell them who she really was? Then, even if they did believe her and try to get her out, she would be found and killed for sure as her true identity was revealed. No! She had to keep going with this plan of hers. It was her only chance now for survival.

She stood tall and proud on the block with the other slaves being bid on. It took everything in her to keep her lip from trembling... she felt at any moment she would crack and begin sobbing again. But she didn't. She endured the humiliating moments of being viewed like some sort of cattle with everything she had in her.

She told herself over and over again that this was just a game and no one would ever truly own her. This was just a game and she was going to survive!

~ she lifts her gaze... watching with a blend of disinterest and disgust.. and was that a hint of fear that shone in her eyes??... as slaves were taken to the block.. and bid one... some were just annoying.. giggling and happy... like this was some sort of game..

"morons" she murmers... but she felt just as moronic as they... she was here against her will.. how smart was that.... ~

She watched as one of the more interesting slaves came up for auction, her given name was Jenni and the associated number was little else than an identification to Mercedes. She watched at the bidding started and decided to throw in a bid herself, which was quickly absorbed in the bidding war.

It was a fascinating process to watch the pretty young things price increase.

James

First Name: James
Surname: King
Height: 6 feet
Race: Asian

As a child, was taken here to work as a slave in the fields. Had been whipped and forced to work 20 hours a day, 7 days a week. With the training, understands the importance of discipline and patients. Learns very fast and at 16 became the youngest among the upper class of slaves whose duty becomes more of managing and running the fields which gave rise to the opportunity to learn and sharpen management and negotiation skills.

Ambitious and patiently waited for a day to buy himself out of slavery. Fumed by the desire to be free and the anger of being treated as second class material. His chance came about 10 years ago when his master had a dispute with one of his business associates. Things worsened and a fight began between the two families. One day, his master launched a brutal attack on the field of the enemy. All but one was killed. James had cornered the then 60 year old master of the enemy field when he made me an offer he cannot refuse. Opening the safe in his bedroom he took out some diamonds and offered to share everything he has with him if he spare his life and help him escape from the clutches of his master.

They managed to flee from what remained from his field. He had since given myself a surname, which I had been forbidden of during my days as a slave, King. James' former master hunted for them, forcing them to free from the country. Together with his new found friend, they build a business in Mexico. 10 years had passed and now, James have money to burn. His partner had pass away and James made my way back home last month.

No one seems to recognise him. Not even his previous masters. Walking in the street, he chance upon this auction....
