This was the first mention I came across that would insinuate otherwise.
There were two instances where people had gotten it wrong or asked or such, so it was mentioned before, besides the introduction(s) I wrote when I joined. (Yes, I understand that people can't read and/or remember all introductions, so I don't expect anyone to know.)
Personally I think I write like a girl, but then, most people don't question their own gender...

Cities of that size (and I live in a city that is only slightly larger - 700,000 people in the city, 1 million in the metro) is that the bus systems are lacking for the area that they cover. The buses stop at 12:45 am in this city and it makes it really bothersome in this city to club, so I usually find myself making the 2 hour walk home after a night of clubbing in this city. Thankfully, I have a couple of friends who live in the same area as I do, so I can walk home with friends.
Not in Europe. Cities of that size are pretty big. In Germany there are only 3 cities with more than a million inhabitants, one with almost a million, with 600 000 we are top ten. And we do have underground, busses and tram, which do work through the night. They don't go close to the university area, though...
Cities here (in the part where I live) don't really have any metro area, because right outside of one city the next fairly big one starts (making it one huge dot on the map).

Yeah, but Edmonton is like... the fifth or sixth largest city in Canada. There is only 3 cities with more than a million in Canada, not including metropolises. Metropolises would be more like the urban environments you have there in Germany. Towns right beside cities and the sort. Other than that, we got huge spaces in between these metropolises and cities.

Hey, that's interesting... I always thought you had huge cities... *shrugs* Thanks for telling me!
Still I think they could operate the public transport system all through the night, at least hourly. The last underground is always stuffed.

Mostly I think US cities don't have such great public transportation. I've never been in any of the gigantic cities of South and Latin America. But in the European cities I have visited (London, Paris, Vienna, Prague, Berlin, even Cologne (not so big)) it worked very well. And through the night.

I agree with Chris9 (points up) London does indeed have great public transportation, and it's easy to figure out as well in my opinion. The only disadvantage is when it's closed due to maintnance or for other reasons, then you have to take a bus, and that can indeed take a bit longer than on the tube.

In my city we have pretty good transporation as well, also for a part of the night, so people who are out clubbing can get on a bus home. Since I hardly ever use the busses, I have to admit that I don't really know how late they drive though!
