Spidey is keyed up like you wouldn't believe, and I swear he's propped his eyes open with invisible toothpicks.

How the hell is mama-santa supposed to "bring" all the presents if he won't go to sleep?

Just watch, I'll be out before he is, and I'll have to do some finagling in the morning to keep the santa myth alive.

I hear ya. Vella just had to herd the children upstairs and tuck them in so I could 'put out the fire' and prepare for Santa's arrival.
;)
Benadryl works.

Pffft....my kids put me to bed these days. Assuming they are even home.

My kids saw that Norad had Santa in St. Louis and started calculating the airspeed velocity of laden sparrows and hi-tailed it for bed... :D

I thought we were going to have more problems like this this year, but no. My daughter was out like a light about 7pm and is yet to wake. I'm awake and I wanna open my presents -hurry up Beth!

I Remember Christmas...

I remember the Christmas when my children seemed to be the perfect age. L.... was six that October and A.... had turned three on a hot summer afternoon. In first grade and preschool the knowledge that Santa Claus is real is as much a fact as the color of the sky or the need to finish all the ice cream before the first tiny bit melts.

We spent Christmas Eve at Grandpa’s so Christmas morning would be at home. Just as the adults felt they had a few moments to enjoy a glass of wine or coffee, children who normally clamor to stay awake began to tug at the hands of their parents. They knew that the sooner they got to their beds, the sooner Santa would visit their house. My son the veteran flew up the stairs and into his pajamas, fast asleep before the room got dark. A..... was a little more hesitant, but soon followed the lead of her brother. Daddy had work to do, and was up slightly longer. Eventually, I went to bed myself.

I had hardly closed my eyes when the little hand began to pull at me. “Daddy,” she said, “you left the lights on downstairs.”

“No, I didn’t honey; go back to sleep,” I replied. A..... would not relent but pulled me from my bed, more with willpower than force, and led me to the stairs. We went down the stairs together. We reached the landing. From there, she could see the tree, all lit up and surrounded with presents. I felt her hand squeeze mine with a sudden intensity and heard the breath leave her in a gasp.

“We gotta go back to bed!” she exclaimed, and raced up the stairs. As I lay back down a few moments later, I felt the magic of Christmas more vividly than I had since I was a child myself. I’ll never forget that moment of shock and pure joy.

To this day she swears she saw Santa.

When my first cousin was around 4 or so, he somehow decided that Santa was a myth, and he had convinced himself that there wasn't going to be any magic presents under the tree for him from Santa.

Christmas morning we all got up, running to the living room, excited as all get out, but Rudy lagged a little behind, after all, Santa wasn't real. ;)

There was hardly room to walk in the living room for the tree and all the presents Santa had brought - I come from a huge family. Rudy finally slowpoked his way into the room, took one wide-eyed look at everything, and promptly fainted.

He's my age, and he has yet to live it down. :D

Huge grin here...that's awesome...

mine are out and have had time to lapse into the deep...time for me to get to work.

*kiss* Merry Christmas

Sooo? Would you two like to tell us what happened *THIS* morning? Kids happy and enjoying the presents? Which do they like best? Did Santa eat all the cookies? Did the reindeer nibble on the carrots? Were there any lumps of coal in the stockings? ;)

At my house the big hits were Bella Dancerella Cheerleader, DDR MAX 2 and the electric guitar for the 9 year old boy(yes, I'll regret that one... maybe...)

...and who is this Bella Dancerella? please tell me she's over eighteen so I don't feel like a pedophile...one site says she is Tara Thompson who was in My Super Ex-Girlfriend...Daddy shouldn't be so interested

Naughty lad. :D

We had no trouble getting the kids to sleep but dang it - they got up at 4:30 a.m.!!!!

Hubby and I are beat. We were up rather late, drinking and um, well, enjoying the holiday. Got maybe 3 hours of sleep. We're trying to catnap today.

Hits at our house? Nintendo DS's and games, pirate stuff, sparkly earrings and shirts for daughter - they also got cash from relatives so are already planning which DS games to buy later this week.

Relaxing today is very nice.

:rose:

I got some good loot, and that was just from my roommate, Luna, and another friend of ours. I haven't bought new clothes in five years, and so I was rather happy to see some shirts and a dress in the pile. 2 DVD's, a book about the rock opera Rent, a gorgeous wall hanging, and more I can't think of right this second...lol

Now? Having dinner issues.

Biggest eye lighter upper for Beth was the talking lightening mcqueen she's wanted for months. other hits :elefun (a weird elephant backwards vacuum blows out butterflies to be caught in nets), scooby doo mini table football, Dora binoculars and a musical jewelry box. :)

She slept well last night, and will tonight -she's not feeling very well, poor lamb.

HA! I used to love Elefun when I was young....I grew up with the neighbor kids, so it was like having a little brother and sister, and I was always over there. The oldest, John, would set up the game for his little sister Kim, who was still running around in a pamper at the time, and me, who was old enough to not be playing with toys like that, played anyway. I thought it was kind of magical, like flower petals drifting from the sky....
