Wrong, as usual. I make a comfortable living working in NYC which also gives me a very nice benefits package. Never collected unemployment, welfare, or any public assistance in my life.

You however, were complaining about "the Obama" raising the rates on your federally subsidized (Socialism AHHH!) flood insurance, Welfare Queen.

Completely agree. I acknowledge that my family and I have had to accept subsidies in the past, but we are both doing our best to repay our debts and working ourselves out of the hole we have found ourselves in.

And if Trump just institutes a random drug screen for welfare that would reduce the number of people on the program, imo

I was referring to a few of our idealist GB liberals. A couple of them tend to cry racist or bigot whenever someone points out the holes in some of their too utopian ideals.

But that doesn't mean that one rejects them.

Like the wellfare - similar thing happened in NZ. They realized at one point that too many people took the easy way out, opting for welfare (espec. young cannabis male users) or sickness benefits for "chronic fatigue syndrome".
So they introduced several small measures, which worked. For example, they asked the general practitioners to issue sickness benefits on a monthly basis rather than 3-monthly or so, which paradoxically led to a decrease in the no. of the non-genuine applicants.

Everywhere the drug screening for Welfare has been tried it's found that the incidence of drug use among welfare recipients is well below the average among the American public. It's also cost the states who tried to implement it far more than they saved by denying benefits to the few who didn't pass a drug screening.
