okay i am just about to step out and head to the silverdome...those few that know me fairly well know that i have a season pass with the worst team in the NFL this year...well, i have a good feeling about today! we play Tampa Bay, and i think it's about time to get outta the winless column....

oh on a side note, i tried to visit the Lions website yesterday, and it was down....it seems that it's hard enough for them to ge just one W, let alone string 3 of them together.

well, i will check back in tonight upon my return!

All have a great day!

GO PACKERS!!

Sorry StondTmplPilot, just had to say it!! Being a cheese head, naturally I'm a Pack fan!! :D My Hubby is a Bears fan... Needless to say that on days like today, when the Packers play the Bears, things get pretty loud and interesting around my house!! *laugh*

~~Mystic

P.S. Wishing the Loins the best of luck! I have a feeling their gonna whoop the shit outta Tampa Bay!! ;)

StondTmplPilot,

Have a great day! I'll keep my fingers crossed for the Lions, if you promise to keep your fingers crossed for the Browns. lol

Yes, I know that's really funny, but a girl has to wish.....LOL

ENJOY the game!

:)

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone! I'm home!

Well, I guess I was wrong about my good feeling about the game! They choked again! I knew it was going to happen when they tied it up with less than 2:00 to go. They left Tampa too much time, and sure enough, with the aid of some suspicious officiating, they won the game on a field goal with :04 left.
But all in all it was a great time, very entertaining, just wish for once this team could make plays when they matter most.

Mystic, bet your feeling mighty precocious right now! Are you teasing the hubby on the out come of the Bears-Packers game? :D I really didn't know who to root for, due to the fact that the outcome won't directly affect the lions anyhow, so I decided that I would go with GB just to keep things close in the division title race.

Enchanted, you wanna share shoulders? Sorry about the browns loss, :( believe me, I know how it feels to lose a game in the last minutes and overtime.

Merelan, no, I dont know how you feel, care to tell me? ;)

TB @ Detroit..

Sorry there, Pilot.. I was hoping the Lions would kick the shit out of the damned Fuccaneers, too.. Oh well.. @ least my Rams won and the Vikes lost.. Way to go Eagles..

Have the Lions won a game yet this year? I'm not saying this to be mean, I simply don't know.

I only follow the Rams, as they are the hometown team. Looks like I'll be following them all the way to winning the Super Bowl again though! :D

The Rams are smokin! Faulk looks like he's as healthy as ever, the D is playing aggresive, and how do you defend all those recievers? The best way I could think of is to get Warner before he gets rid of the ball, but he has a quick release and those recievers get open fast!

Not an Eagle's fan at all, their fans treated my friend like shit when he went to the play-off game in Philly in '95. He could handle the taunts and insults, but the purposeful dousing with beer kinda pissed him off. He says he will never go back to that city again. I dont blame him.

Well Warner did hurt his thumb on his throwing hand again, so we'll see what happens from here on out. He did manage to live up to the legend he's quickly becoming though, by being the fastest to reach 10,000 passing yards (I think it was). 36 games for him, while it took Dan Marino 38 games. Can you say possible Hall of Famer? I knew ya could!

Yes it will be hard to stop the Rams again this year, with over 3000 yards already this season, they're bound to set many more records. It's such a nice thing to have in this town since the Football Cardinals sucked and still do, very much.

No, they haven't :( This team has recorded their worst record ever after half a season, and it doesn't get any easier. They play in Chicago next week, then GB at home on Thanksgiving. I realize the Lions have a terrific record on Thanksgiving day over the last 10 years or so, but I just can't see them beating Green Bay. After that they go to Pittsburgh, then play Minnesota at home, and then On the Road to Tampa and Arizona, and then back home for Chicago, and then Dallas. It is conceivable that this team will not win a game, though they do have a reasonable chance against Arizona and Dallas.

Leave it to Detroit to be the worst team in the NFL in a year in which they would not get the #1 pick in the draft!

I just want to say it is damn good to see someone standing by their team even when they are having a bad year. You definitely get Cool Points and a nice helping of respect for that Stond.

I'm happy (cuz my 'Niners won) and a little miffed (cuz they almost blew it), but hey this ain't about me right? *raises a glass* Here's to hoping that the Lions pull something out by Thanksgiving so they can give a good ol' turkey flavored trouncing to their opponents.

:)

The Lions haven't been the same since BEFORE Barry decided to retire, is that right? When he said fuck it, that's when I stopped following them.

Yeah they guys do seem to have a chance aginst the Cowboys, (America's Team, MY ASS!), and ALWAYS against the Cards. If they can't beat either of these teams, then I'm afraid it's time to switch your allegiance until next season bud. (j/k)

I think Warner is a definite Hall of Famer, even if he has a short carreer due to his late start, he has shown that he is worthy of induction. I think the Rams are the team to beat too, and I don't really see a team capable, other than N.O. If it came down to these two teams I would have to root for the Saints, as I can relate to their fans, and the Rams have been there already.
I wouldnt count GB out either, if they can get home field in the NFC championship game, they could take both of those teams, they revel in playing outside, in the bitter january cold.

Stick by your team!
I do. I am a Chiefs fan.
Take comfort in the fact that you may get a better draft pick than we do. We gave up a number one for TrINT Green.
I miss Barry Sanders and his magic.

Did you see the interview with him, Marcus, and Emmit?

After Bobby Ross's first season, I believe some of the players on the Lions decided that Ross was not the coach they wanted and the team has steadily declined since then. Barry retiring just made the teams demise accelerate. The Lions do not have anyone on that team that can put fear into the other team on a continual, play in and play out basis. Desmond Howard is their only real threat to make a huge play on kick and punt returns. Johnny Morton is dependable, and can make some big plays, but often he draws double coverage because the Lions have no other recievers who can intimidate the opposing defense. With Germane Crowell and Herman Moore out for the season, they are left with Larry Foster, and undrafted free agent signee, and Bert Emannuel, a recent free agent re-tread, and rookie Scotty Anderson. None of whom will strike big play fear into another team.

I wouldn't count Green Bay out either, any year lately. However the only thing anyone has to remember is that the NFL prefers playing the Super Bowl INSIDE on turf, which the Rams are obvioulsy used to doing, so they could have the "inside" advantage.

I know the reason why they want it warm on the inside is because of the big buck people who pay the bills, but I would love to see the SB played outside, "just like the old days".

The Rams can honestly say right now, that they've got at least 4-5 hall of famers playing for them, which unfortuantely not alot of teams are able to say. Which sucks for those teams, who are happy just to win games once in awhile, not worrying about the hall of fame, but rather about their standings for the season.

I'd say 4-5 on the offense alone, and 1-2 with potential for induction on the D. While it's true that the NFL wants optimum conditions weatherwise for the superbowl, something that also annoys me, there is nothing they can do about conference championships, were the Packers and Rams meet in GB, I would have to give that Pack an edge if they weather is typical for January there.

The only Hall of Famers the Lions have had in my were Lem Barney, and Barry. I think that the rookie nose tackle Shawn Rogers has that potential, and with the tutelage of Charles Haley, i believe he is going to become a perrenial pro bowler. This guy is phenominal, he is already drawing double teams, and still making the play. I just watch him and see greatness written all over him.

I can never take comfort in high draft picks, means the team had a bad year, which is definitely the case here. I don't know why KC didn't keep Grbac, I think he is far better than Trent Green.

We all miss Barry's magic *sighs*

I didnt see the interview, would have loved to though

Thought the Redskins had that market cornered. Even if they win, they still suck.

Still, for my mother's sake, here's to your Lions.

lmao I hate the 'Skins, but alas, I don't know that I could claim the Lions are superior to them...although we smoked their asses last season, this is a far different Lions team we are talking about this season.

Sorry to hear about the Lions.... *sigh*
I had my fingers crossed for you and everything! :(

But.... On the happier side of things.....
WAHOO PACKERS!!! Oh Yeah! I'm definitly giving my hubby an ear full of teasing! (He was talking all kinds of smack before the game. He sure ain't talking that now, is he? *evil grin*.) But, I do have to say I don't know if the Packers win was so much that they played a good game or because the Bears played a really bad game... LOL... No matter tho, it just makes things a little more exciting here at home now that they're both tied for 1st. :D

That was me up there!

Sorry about that! My husband is "Roaming Spirit" and I didn't realize he was logged in... :)

Can you believe this? Something tells me this will be a very long rest of the season. lol

Yes, I think I could use a very comforting shoulder to cry on. Thank you for the offer. It just so happens I, too, have a shoulder. I'd be more than happy to let you use it for a bit.

Enjoy your day, and remember one thing......there is always next week. lol

Heart-breaking, last-second-of-the-game losses..

You think you have it bad with your pro teams?! Oh my goodness.. That's how all of my high school football games ended this year.. We either lost by a last-minute touchdown, a last-minute field goal, or that damned extra point that edges the score out by one.. I swear.. This season was such a disappointment for me.. I haven't won a game in two years! That's not to say that my team is bad, no, we're actually pretty good.. It's just that all the other teams are a -tad- bit better.. Oh well.. I'll stop my bitching now.. Just thought I'd put my two cents in seeing as how we were on the topic of heart-breaking losses..
