Do you think that it is possible for the entire world and all of human civilization to be under the ruthless and merciless rule of a global totalitarian state?

This has been portrayed in many fictitious books and films, but could it ever actually come to fruition? I'm thinking like maybe in the year 2150-2200?

Most depictions of the distant future (both in fiction and hypothesis) exhibit a hellish dystopia in a post-apocalyptic setting with human beings struggling for survival and fighting amongst eachother. Given the current state of international political and economic affairs, this reality may certainly come to pass. Possibly very late in my lifetime.

Merry Conspiracy Christmas, Mikeyboy!

May your depression have mercy with you, at least this day.

So far Hitler and Germany or maybe Russia leads he modern charge.

Judging by the way people sell their souls to charismatic leaders I would say yes, probably within the next fifty years.

I think what people here in Europe fear most, beside the loss of their wealth, is an American dictature.

I'm not talking about the America of today. I talk about an America that revolutionary get rid of their government, celebrate their revolution for a few years, and then turn into a dictature. Not by the governemt. But by organized gunmen.

That will never, ever happen.

The armed gunmen you fear want nothing more than for US to stay out of the rest of the world's business.

And they don't want a dictatorship, either.

Merry Christmas, by the way!

Of course not, armed civilians ALWAYS stop totalitarian states, not stabel westernised democracies.

Actually, if all your citizens are armed, what's the point in democracy in the first place?

Discuss.

American-led armed conflicts in foreign countries (Vietnam/Iraq/Afghanistan/etc..) are fought for international corporate interests, and NOT for freedom and liberation.

War = obscene profits for a myriad of corporate interests. This also means HUGE capital returns on inside investors. Death and destruction all to make a handful of insiders extremely rich.
