This is my sociology experiment and Observations

Now that the economy is recovering (well maybe – but people I know are acting like it has), one observation that has been slapping me in the face, is how my female friends are acting.

Now I'm talking about freinds that have high scress jobs, own her own business or are at the c-level. They are acting more and more like men! going to get a drink after work, or having a drink first thing when they get home.

Not all of my observations are a good thing as a couple of my friends are having chest pains from the stress (just like men, a couple are now drinking after work – to reduce stress).

On the male fantasy positive side, you men would be happy to learn that some of these power women are into friends with bennies (enjoyed but not talked about), fantasy massages to reduce stress, and taking lovers on the side.

The interesting social aspect is, how the dynamics of relationship changes. The wife has the power and now the husband is in the “wife” role and just like men did, the “wife” a couple of my friends had one night flings. No stress, no drama, no commitment, just a quick romp with no questions asked.

thoughts? has anyone else noticed this? or do I know my friends too well...

I gotta say, none of the above sounds new to me. Cheating is nothing new for either gender, nor is drinking. It's been going on for centuries. I knew quite a few women who did either or both well before the recession.

cheating isn't new, but the how and why might be. i.e. a female CEO who seduces and uses her power to get a male toy

Yep

Where was this post years ago?
Yes, I have seen this too for years.
It all came home when this one biz owner flew in her sancho from Italy (met him there on vacation) for a week. He stayed with at a girlfriend's house and was picked up at various times all week.

Her girlfriend that he stayed with said this guy was 'beautiful' and she would have slept with him, but not in the current context.

The drinking thing will make these women look like men.
Think about it.
Downing a few cocktails or beers after work is fun.
But I know pumping some iron or an hour run burns out stress better. Plus it is better for me.

What I am not liking are the women who use their young, hot bodies to get out of unpleasnt assignments at work. Do your women boss friends let hot studs that work for them get out of work?

I've seen some stories about this kind of things and other issues relating to gender roles and how they've been turning around for years. With more and more women going to college than men, what once might have been considered unthinkable is now becoming more common...or at least more people are hearing about it.

I've always made the argument that despite how different men and women can be at times, in some key ways we're exactly the same and that if women "ran the world" instead of men, things would probably still run along many of the same lines as they do today.

if you look at history, and I mean the details of people not just the broad spectrum look, there are plenty of stories about women who have acted in ways that would be considered typical for a man but not a woman.

I can't give thoughts on any personal experiences I've had with knowing women who do this, because I work in a blue collar job and it's rare to meet women in my line of work who aren't in the upper levels of management. But I will say that the concept doesn't surprise me at all.

Willing to share any of their phone numbers??? :D j/k

in my profession it is already pretty mixed, but there are generational differences in degrees of stress rather than gender. younger academics are totally stressed out meeting the increasingly ridicuous demands of obtaining tenure. if it is an academic couple, then the stresses aren't relieved at home as there is a bit of competition between them. many possibilities for seeking out relaxation and relief from outside the marriage...

amongst friends, and family, outside academia, I do see such a trend as far as drinking, etc., though haven't picked up on the adultry aspect - now i'll have to keep my eyes open a lil more! :D

Just about everyone I know is stressed at work, with all the layoffs everyone is expected to do more with less. Really missing the dot com days
