Move over, Thin Mints. There's a new cookie in town, and its name is "Savannah Smiles."

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts, which was founded in 1912, this year girls with badges on their sashes will sell boxes of Savannah Smiles, a lemon cookie, in addition to classic favorites like Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs.

There used to be a nuclear powered cargo ship down in the low-country named Savanna.

Looks like she is in Baltimore now

NS Savannah, named for SS Savannah, was the first nuclear-powered cargo-passenger ship, built in the late 1950s at a cost of $46.9 million, including a $28.3 million nuclear reactor and fuel core, funded by United States government agencies as a demonstration project for the potential usage of nuclear energy.[3] Launched on 21 July 1959, she was in service between 1962–1972 as one of only four nuclear-powered cargo ships ever built,[2] while Soviet ice-breaker Lenin launched on 5 December 1957, was the first nuclear-powered civil ship. NS Savannah has been moored at Pier 13 of the Canton Marine Terminal in Baltimore, Maryland since 2008.[4]

I was going to post something about this here when I saw it on yahoo....but then I figured everyone would think I was stupid and make fun of me. Glad it's working out ok for you.

As freighters go was it bigger than most?

No, it was too small and the deck ape union caused costs to rise, making it economically unviable. It was part of the Atoms for Peace program in the 50s, and was active from 62-72. She's been pawned off on various owners ever since.

I went on a tour when it was at Patriot's Point and now that I know it's in Baltimore, I may go take another look... these 25 years later.

I just posted it as an example of corporate greed. A company using young girls to sell products and giving them very little of the profits.

I like cookies. I make a mean chocolate chip if I do say so myself.
I'm making apple pie today though. Let's see those Hitler Youth bitches sell that.
