Of course, all of these tangential questions regarding why she might be lying to federal investigators are irrelevant. The mere fact that she gave false information is a crime, in and of itself. Just ask Scooter Libby.

Not at all. Without seeing the specific FBI notes which Congress now has we simply do not know if the story is that innocent or whether her characterization of the "advice" she was given constitutes outright lying as critics are rushing to believe.

My own suspicion is that she will say anything to give herself any and all political and financial advantages, but that she is also a clever enough attorney to barely stay on the "right" side of the law.
