I can't get past the uncooked fish thing. I like my salmon tossed on a grill for a minute or two.

Sushi is the rice.

And, it's not all uncooked. Much is cooked. Get a salmon skin hand roll. That's fried crispy salmon skin. Heaven on the tongue.

Mrs t doesn't go for the uncooked stuff, but there's plenty of variety for her at the sushi bar.

As thør said, there are plenty of items on the menu that are either cooked, or not 'raw' fish. Start slow, go with someone who knows their stuff. I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with the new tastes and textures. Going with a good friend can only make this a more enjoyable, new experience.

I would suggest getting a non fish selection, or maybe some with something like some tuna, or smoked fish on it) as take out. Going home and just trying it, in privacy and not feeling under pressure, but brave.

Whichever feels most likely to work for you. Vegetarian sushi is delicious, and not such a mind leap, but all the joy of novelty! Some of the eggy ones are nice too. And the smoked fish......then if you feel like it....push a little further in to the fishiness...
