If you could only pick one, which one would it be, and why?

I'd take a gift certificate, because I prefer to get exactly what I want.

Gift certificate for the same reason. Which is why I usually get people one also.

Depends on the person doing the giving. If it is someone I am very close with I like a present. Even if I hate the gift I love to see what they think I will like. The thought really does count. Otherwise a gift card so I can get exactly what I want.

Present, I love opening presents and I apreciate every one.

Even the padded coat hangers I got last Christmas. A girl can't ever have too many coat hangers :D

I understand. Ideally, for me, it would be a present and a gift card. I do love the more personal nature of a present. Although, a gift card is close to as personal for me. They want me to have something cool from a place I love to shop.

I always assume that if someone buys me a gift card they just don't care enough to think of a present.

I'd take nothing over a gift card.

I don't care what the present is, but at least it took some interest.

Can I have his gift card since he doesn't want it?

I would have to say present, because it is the thought behind it that counts.

Exactly. Even if it's some cookies or something that's fine.

To me the gift giving should be about showing you care. I can't stand obligatory gift giving.

Cash.

It's the right color and it always fits.

My daughter prefers cash. So, thats what I give her. She goes to freaky specialty shops way down town, so it works best for her.

I got a wreath hand made out of wrapped candy and it's the coolest thing!

He's probably going to get more than one gift card.

Can you and I split them 50/50? Please. :D

The present! I love the surprise of it. And sometimes it can be so unique and thoughtful :)

Gift certificate to the local bookstore.

Because, I get what I want.

For me, I feel like there is thought and feeling behind it. It makes me happy to get exactly what I want. So, they're making me happy. :)

Not necessarily.
The parents of one of my kids gave me a gift certificate to this Indian Restaurant I’d mentioned months ago to her in passing. Considering I wasn’t expecting any gifts, that this is one of the more expensive restaurants to go to, and that I’d only ever mentioned it once in passing it was an amazing gesture in their part that took time and planning.
