Ghost stories

Truth usually is stranger than fiction. I've seen things happen that nobody could possibly dream up. Hollywood can take ideas from truth, but they'll never be able to compete with it.

I am the same way, seen some crazy shit!

Wrapped apples? How do you make them? Just wrap them in aluminum foil and put them on the fire? Do you do anything else to them? That sounds so yummy!

They do taste good if one only wraps them in foil and puts them in the fire, but they taste even better if: The core is taken out (a broad screwdriver will work fine if the core-thingy got left at home) and the hole then is filled with walnuts, a sprinkle of cinnamon, some honey, chocolate, hazelnuts, a combination of a few (chocolate and cinnamon is divine, as is walnuts and honey, or walnuts and cinnamon) or just one.
Break the lower part of the core off and put it back in, it will keep most of the chocolate in.

I have seen people lick the foil to get all the juices.

I am hungry now ...

I missed this until now! ARGH! I have to try this! Thanks for the idea!

That actually sounds kind of good.

I tell ya what. You build a fire while I get them ready. We'll see if they're kinda good.

Then after we fill up on fire-roasted apples, we can snuggle on the hammock in front of the fire.

Hmmm. I came here for some Halloween spirit & ghosty stuff - instead I get an apple recipe??? SWEEEEET! This sounds divine!

Deal

But, as fair warning, you should probably know that my hands wander while I cuddle, and even more so when I have a stomach full of good food.

This is a story that will be boring to all of you, but its fascinating to be because it happened to my best friend, who I trust completely. He has had numerous encounters in his life with ghosts. This one stands out.

He was in his 20's and travelling through Spain. He was in his hotel room and in the middle of the night, in pitch black, he was awoken by the feeling of a presence in the room. It was scary and real, and remained until the sun came up. He's Catholic, and at dawn immediately found a church. Once inside, there was a chandellier that started violently shaking. And then fell from the ceiling and crashed 10 feet in front of him. 500 year old church. He took the next train the fuck out of town. He figured maybe some sort of past-life thing. I asked him if he'd ever thought about going back to that town to see if it would happen again. "No fucking way."

That is not boring at all! Love it. Do tell us more of your friends experiences, please?

You all are very welcome to try 'my' campfire-apples. I got the recipe out off a boy-scout's leaflet. They only wanted one to put a little bit of sugar in a small hole cut at the top of an apple though.

Take apples with a thicker skin. The inside will go all mushy and yummy, and the skin remains quite hard. Lovely to lick the juices of ...

Hi Jenny! Pull up a log and sit here at the fire with me. The fire-roasted apples are a real treat! We usually just have S'mores around the campfire! Do you have any stories that you can tell us? It doesn't have to be your story; it can be one you've heard. Hell, it doesn't even have to be real! It just has to raise goosebumps! That's our only requirement here. (But if you have any delicious fireside treats to share, we'll be glad to help you get rid of them!)

Deal

I'm counting on it.

Hi, TS! Welcome to my campfire! That story isn't boring at ALL! I'd love to hear more! Pull up a chair or hammock and help yourself to some of Dutchy's apples. (I'm really generous with somebody else's food. lol ) Oh, hey, can ya bring me back a coke since you're coming this way anyway? Thanks! :D

I don't have any cemetery or church ghost stories. Most of what I've seen has either happened in my own home or the hospitals that I've worked at. I started a new job in a mental health facility recently, and I think I'm going to have to write a story based on that hospital. It's set back in the woods, at the end of a lonely little lane, and it looks like the stereotypical creepy mental health facility in the movies where all kinds of gory murders could have happened. I'll keep my eye out for real events, but in the meantime, I think I'm going to have to make some up. My imagination is chomping at the bit with this job. hehe

I found this site: Top 5 Haunted Places in Albany Area

If you read the first place, it mentions Vale Cemetery, which I have experienced often

I just saw somebody walk through my apartment. Twice. But there's nobody here.

Boo!

Hiya Beachmomma, love this thread:heart:...and as it gets closer to Halloween I think it will become even more interesting....just wanted to pop in and say that and also exit by saying BOO again! I know , I know... scaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyy!:rolleyes:

I love being scared! Can I cuddle up to you? Will you protect me? *bats eyelashes*

Have you ever seen one of the statues cry blood?

No, but I witnessed one of the angel statues move its head to look at me and the others in our group. We ran out of there, ran to a fire station near the Brandywine Avenue entrance, where the firemen asked us if we saw the statue that cried blood. When we said we saw one of the angels move its head, the Irish ones crossed themselves, the others turned red. They asked us to show them which one...the next day!

I hope you all kept your eyes on it and did not BLINK!

RJ, that's just all kinds of fucked up.

OK, so Sunday I posted that I saw somebody - 2 somebodies - walking in my apartment even though nobody was here. My roommate has also seen somebody here. He was sitting on the couch when he first moved in; somebody sat down beside him, but there was nobody there. I hadn't told him that I'd already seen strange things in the apartment. He freaked *out.*

I'm convinced that mom and dad (mentioned early in this thread) are still with me. I tend to see them only when traumatic things happen. I hadn't seen them in several years - until I moved into my own place. I've been here since May, and I've seen "them" maybe half a dozen times. I almost always see them in pairs, although I have occasionally seen only one.

I'm dealing with a few of my own ghosts - demons from my past - right now. It's very traumatic at times but also cathartic and healing. Is it a coincidence that I saw them walk by when they did? I believe they're trying to be here for me when I need them. My original trauma happened while they were still alive, but I didn't tell them about it until I was forced to - at the last possible minute. They helped me get through it at the time, but they weren't able to help me emotionally. I believe that they're trying to be supportive now that I'm ready to conquer the emotional demons.

My mom especially identified with what I was going through at the time. She'd been abused in a previous marriage herself. I was far too traumatized at the time to even think about trying to heal; I was more interested in simply surviving. She didn't pressure me at the time; she was as supportive and helpful as I could ever hope for, but she allowed me to do what I needed to do without trying to influence my decisions one way or the other. I chose to move to FL.....to run away from my fear.

I dodged my bullets all these years, but now dodging them isn't enough. I'm ready to settle this once and for all and *win.* I have the support of loving friends, and I believe I also have the support of my parents. I believe they're here to make sure I'm ok. Really ok.
