"I was talking to Brogan." Siobhan said softly as Alban appeared to make sure that she was alright. "I'll be alright."

Siobhan gave them all a small smile and hurried away, back to the kitchen where she felt safe. Julia chuckled and shook her head slightly at the young wolf.

"I hope that her scars will heal one day. She's a lovely girl."

Alban smiled to Brogan and Julia with a nod. "Chessie can heal jus' about anyone with time." He excused himself and stepped away. Brogan kept his arm around Julia, quite content where he was.

"Looks like Kate's startin' t'get nervous," Brogan murmured to her. "But she's set on Edinburgh. She knows what she needs t'do."

"She needs to face her own fears." Julia said softly as she slipped her arms around Brogan's waist and hugged him tightly. "It's the only way that she'll feel confident enough in her own decisions. We'll be there for the coronation, but then we'll leave her be."

Brogan laid his head against her own, having never minded his love for her showing when it was just friends and family around. "I know. She'll be alright once she can prove she's fit fer th'job t'herself."

"I'll just lose my mind in the meantime making sure that she is properly dressed along with everyone else in this family." Julia muttered, looking up at Brogan with a soft smile. "Why did you have to give me so many children, Brogan Ghis?"

"'Cause we can' keep our hands off each other," Brogan grinned, stealing a kiss. Their romance and love life was still alive and well, if only more relaxed.

Julia rolled her eyes as her husband leaned in and kissed her. "You're not that charming." She murmured as their kiss ended. "You've never been that charming."

"Then it mus' be you," Brogan grinned, pressing a kiss to her neck secretly before letting her go. "I 'ad Chessie save ya a plate, love. Go an' eat."

Julia gave her husband a smile as she nodded. "Go and spend some time with Kate. Help her make some plans so that she feels better about her choices."

"Yes, ma'am," Brogan nodded, kissing her hand before stepping away to usher Kate and Kell toward his office.

Julia watched as Brogan took the two of them to his private office to give them the advice that they needed. She moved to sit at the table smiling as Chessie brought her a plate of food and a mug of tea.

"I hear that you might be a new mother." Julia said, giving Chessie a smile. "Siobhan is a lovely young girl."

"Your daughter and her husband helped move Siobhan in. We'll probably do the paperwork soon to make it official." Chessie settled beside Julia for tea and a bit more breakfast for herself.

"I remember when the patrol found her after her father killed her mother. She was such a small little thing and so frightened." Julia said softly as Chessie joined her for the rest of breakfast. "She wouldn't even look anyone in the eye and I don't think she stopped shivering until someone introduced her to the kitchens."

"Everyone in the kitchens seemed to adopt her at once," Chessie murmured with a smile. "And then Alban came along and helped her learn to start to trust men again."

"Alban is a good man." Julia said in agreement, chuckling at the look that crossed Chessie's face. "Marry him before he gets away. Although, I think he's purely smitten with you and he doesn't want to do anywhere any time soon."

"He's stuck with me. With us," Chessie nodded. "I don't need a ring to know that. And he'd stick around for Siobhan if nothing else."

"He would stay for you." Julia said. "He adores you. The way that he looks at you when he thinks no one is paying attention is truly breath taking."

"He's quite a catch." Chessie smiled to herself. "I like to think Ciaran sent him my way. Someone stable and supportive, that's all I needed."

"Ciaran adored you." Julia said softly, reaching over to take Chessie's hand in her own and squeezing it tightly. "He'd be happy to know that you made something wonderful out of your life. And he would have been smitten with Siobhan."

Chessie squeezed her hand in return, sharing a smile and a knowing look. She knew that Ciaran had loved them both, and she had never blamed Julia for it. "He would have... He had looked forward to being a father for some time."

"I'm sure he would have been like Cole. A steady, constant in his children's life." Julia murmured as Chessie gave her a knowing look. "I'm positive that he's helped Ciaran along the way with his own struggles in life."

"Of course he has. I wish he'd gotten to meet that sweet boy, and your other children for that matter. He would've adored them all." Chessie knew all that had happened, and she knew Ciaran would've run with Julia if he'd survived, for the sake of both their lives. And despite being forlorn and a bit cold for a short while, she had also understood what had happened and she had eventually come to treat Julia as a sister regardless of it all.

"You're a saint, Chessie." Julia said, patting Chessie's hand and leaning in to kiss her cheek before she returned to her meal.

The day was long for everyone involved, but since she had moved in with Chessie, Siobhan had never missed an evening at home. Chessie would cook them a simple meal and more often than not, the young wolf would find herself curled up next to the fire as Alban read to her. It helped to keep her calm and so much less afraid of the world around her.

Her tan head was resting heavily against his shoulder as her golden eyes struggled to stay awake as he told her some of the stories from her new books, the words making much more sense now as she taught herself how to read better.

"I know fairy tales aren't real, but you make these people seem almost alive." Siobhan said softly as Alban's deep voice lulled her to relax.

"Fairy tales are just a big, colorful version of real stories," Alban murmured. "They all have a grain of truth." He smiled down to her. "Like the stories of dragons. They're real."

"But love doesn't work like it does in these stories." Siobhan said softly as Alban discussed what they were reading with is deep, soft voice. "No one falls in love at first sight."
