"I had nothing else to do," Kell murmured, kissing her forehead and nuzzling against her. "While you work whether there's other things to do or not."

"Our time is our time." Kate said softly as he kissed and nuzzled against her, trying to soothe her rotten mood. "When we're in our rooms together, no work can be done."

Kell simply nodded, though he knew they'd both be breaking that rule now and then. He laid against her side with his head on her shoulder and settled with a long sigh.

Kate yawned as he pulled her tightly against him again nodding at her demand. She hadn't meant to be so grumpy when she woke, but she had been so stressed lately that sometimes she forgot to control her tongue. Kell never failed to forgive her for moments like that, but she still felt bad when the moods passed.

When they both rose to go to dinner, the pair found an odd sight in the main hall. Brogan was watching, his interest piqued, from his usual chair as there seemed to be a confrontation between his nephew Seamus and an unruly guard who'd said something off-color. Seamus had recently been getting his temper under control, so Brogan was interested to see how he'd deal with the situation, and he kept anyone else back.

Seamus stood facing the man, silently receiving a brutal tirade from the guard. It seemed the guard was angry about some previous altercation that resulted in a brawl at Gerald's tavern.

Kate paused when she saw Seamus standing there to face off with the guard. It seemed that her father was waiting to see how Seamus might handle the situation. She pulled Kell to the side, waiting to see what was happening before any of them intervened.

Seamus eventually stopped the guard. "Listen, friend. Walk away. It's done."

With another loud tirade, the guard seemed about to strike Seamus. Instead of striking first, Seamus took a page from Durban's book. He dodged the hit and grabbed the man's arm, twisting it painfully behind his back and dropping him to his knees. "Let it go," Seamus growled, and Brogan quietly motioned some guards over to control their comrade. They took the angry guard away, leaving Seamus to straighten his clothing and quietly rejoin his family.

Kate chuckled to herself as her normally aggressive cousin dealt with the situation of the angry guard as beautifully as any of his uncles or his Da. It seemed that Seamus had finally learned some self control over his emotions while working for Julia for the past few months.

Brogan smiled to himself as the situation was resolved and then he spotted Kate. He motioned her over and met her with a kiss to her cheek.

"Morning, Da." Kate said as her father kissed her cheek and she took her Ma's spot next to him at the table as Julia was nowhere to be seen.

"Hello, love," Brogan murmured with his usual low rumble and a smile, his head propped up on his clasped hands. Kell had parted from Kate briefly to greet Sam and Rho before rejoining her side. "I'm lettin' yer Ma sleep in."

"You and the girls tire her out too much." Kate said with a grin as Kell took a seat at her side after greeting her younger brothers.

"More th' girls than me these days, but I'll take some credit." Brogan reached over to take Kate's hand. "How's th' planning fer Edinburgh coming?"

"It's overwhelming." Kate said with a sigh as her Da took her hand and squeezed it tightly. "There's so much to think about and do and all I want to do is stay here in Inverness."

"You know Gale did give you th'option, Kitten," Brogan reminded her softly. "If you don't think you can do it."

"It'll be the first time I've ever been away from my family like this." Kate said softly as her Da reminded her that she didn't have to take the throne. "And it is something that I want to do. I feel like I have some work to take care of in Edinburgh."

"Then ye'll always have my support. As yer father an' a fellow ruler," Brogan murmured, brushing her hair back fondly and drawing her against his side. "An' ye'll always be able t'count on Wick, Glasgow, an' the council of Mull. No' t'mention all our friends an' allies outside Scotland. No' even crowned yet an' ye've got th'Isles an' th'Triad an' plenty of other northerners on yer side."

"I better always have your support." Kate said with a soft smile as her held her against his side. "And I have a husband that will love me and support me in person when you can't be there. Kell adores you and Ma and will do whatever he can to make sure that everyone is happy."

Brogan held her close until Chessie came around with food, laying out dishes and bowls of anything anyone could want. Brogan made sure to catch her and ask her to save a plate for Julia.

And just as the meal was cleared away, Brogan rose seeing Julia emerge. Just as he had every morning for twenty years, he greeted her with an embrace and a sweet kiss. "Hiya, love," he murmured.

"You let me oversleep." Julia said softly as her husband wrapped her up into his arms and kissed her lips with that familiar smile. "I thought it was odd when a little girl didn't wake me up screaming."

Julia glanced over as she saw Siobhan working to help clear the table after the meal was finished. She smiled to see the young wolf in a new pair of clothes, a beautiful dress and a soft looking tunic.

"You look lovely today, Siobhan." Julia said watching as the tan wolf looked at her with wide eyes.

"Thank you, my lady." Siobhan said softly, dipping her head towards Julia. "Chessie helped me move into her house and she got me some new clothing."

Keeping an arm around Julia, Brogan smiled to Siobhan as well. "Then I ought t'welcome ya t'the family, lass." He gave her a nod.

"She's not my Ma yet." Siobhan said softly as Brogan smiled at her and welcomed her to the family. "Maybe soon, but not yet."

"She is if you want 'er t'be. But yer still family is either way considerin' how she loves you." Brogan stepped up and placed a hand on the shy girl's shoulder. "An' we're happy t'have ya."

"Thank you." Siobhan said, lowering her head slightly as Brogan touched her shoulder.

She was so shy and unsure of how to react to much. The only people that she really ever opened up to were Chessie and Chessie's lover. She adored them both and they were nothing but kind to her.

Before Brogan could speak again, another hand laid on Siobhan's back and Alban stepped up beside her. He was a fairly tall, robust warrior cut of a similar cloth as Brogan and Cole. He had a slightly greying dark beard and long hair, and was dressed in light armor as he was on duty.

"Y'alright, cub?" He asked with a warm smile. He knew well when she was nervous.
