While Kell had considered making a grand spectacle of his proposal, he knew that he and Kate just weren't the sort to want that attention. There would be enough attention around the wedding and her coronation anyway.

As Kate wrapped her arms around him, Kell smiled at their kiss and drew her tightly to his chest. When their lips parted, he gently took her hand and produced a beautiful silver ring decorated with dark Erygonian sigils all around the outside that stood for partnership, love, life, and mates. It's surface had an uneven hammered look that made it catch the light in different and interesting ways, complementing the banded and square Erygonian artwork.

"It's beautiful, Kell." Kate said softly, knowing that he had put a lot of thought into the ring that he was slipping into her finger.

"I can't take all the credit. Your father has the makings of a jeweler," Kell chuckled softly. "I wanted him to be part of it too. I know how much he means to you."

Kate's grin grew larger as she looked down at the ring on her finger. She knew that the two men in her life that had meant the most to her had worked together to give her something lovely. It surprised her just how much they cared.

"It's lovely, Kell." She murmured in a sincere voice. "And I promise that I will do my best to make you happy."

"You've already done plenty," Kell told her softly, opening the door to her room and stepping in with her. "I don't need to tell you all over again that you saved me."

"I can't stop you, but I can certainly keep trying to outdo you," Kell smirked back, leaning in to kiss her again with a little fire.

Kate chuckled as he kissed her again, the fire in that moment making her whimper with both need and a little uncertainty. Her arms wrapped around her wolf's strong shoulders as she pulled him tightly into her body, pressing against him in a way that she had never been comfortable doing in the past.

That caught Kell a little off-guard, but he still obliged her, his arms settling low about her waist, one hand resting on her lower back. When their lips parted, he placed a gentle kiss to her throat, not wanting to pull away.

Kate sucked in a breath as Kell pressed a kiss against her throat, not pulling away from the moment with her.

Kell didn't push any further yet, murmuring against her skin, "... Kate...?" He knew he wanted her, but he respected her boundaries too much to push.

"I don't really know what I want." Kate murmured softly, a bit embarrassed that she had pushed it so far and he had stopped just short of doing something that she might have regretted.

"You don't have to know yet," Kell murmured, lifting his head to give her a gentle smile. "And until you do, I won't ask for more."

"I do want more." Kate said softly as she pressed her head against her wolf's. "I want to learn from you and explore but I also want to save something special for our wedding."

Kell pressed another kiss to her shoulder, the place her mark would most likely go when they became true mates. "It will be special. Just you and me, and nothing else to think or worry about..."

"I know my Ma and Da wouldn't care in the least. Maybe I'm more old fashioned than I thought." Kate said as Kell kissed her bare shoulder, the spot that he would claim in their wedding night. "You do make me burn, Kell. It's sometimes too much."

Kell chuckled then, holding her a little tighter. "You shouldn't tell me that. Or I might use it to my advantage." He stole another kiss before directing her away to ready for bed. "Go on, love."

Kate moved to get dressed in her nightgown. For a woman that had spent most of her life in trousers and shirts, she was distinctly feminine in a few aspects of her life. Bedtime clothing was always nightgowns and she insisted on nice undergarments. The rest would hide all of that.

Getting into his secret stash of clothes in her room, Kell dressed in simple trousers and a sleeveless, loose shirt before laying back with a sigh on her bed. He purposely took up all the space he could just to tease her, laying right in the middle with his arms stretched out.

"You can go to your own bed if you're going to act like this on my birthday." Kate growled playfully as she leaned in and kissed him before trying to shove as much of him to the side as she possibly could. "And I'm a little upset that you got me no other gift today."

"It's not your birthday anymore. It's past midnight," Kell chuckled, rolling onto his side to give her room. "And I thought I was gift enough." He rolled back once she settled, stealing another kiss.

"Would telling you I did get you a gift win back your affections?" Kell asked with a handsome grin. "I just didn't want to take you away from your party to go get it."

"Depends on what kind of gift." Kate said with a smile towards Kell as he promised that there was a gift for her that he hadn't wanted to leave to go and get.

"A completely stupid one," Kell assured her. "No rhyme or reason to it, just something I figured you'd enjoy."
