"Well, what sort o' wedding d'you two want?" Brogan asked. "Th' coronation's gonna be a huge public affair tha' Warwick's planned."

"Something just for us and our family." Kate said resolutely. "He only has Khelt there for his family, so he'll just have to share mine."

"We're already his family. 'Ave been since 'e came 'ome with us." Brogan smiled to Kell then. "Y'chose well, lass. I've already got a good few sons, an' Kell will be a good addition."

"He'll be the best son." Kate teased, looking over at Ciaran with an evil little grin. "At least until this oaf decides to make things official with Justin and then Justin might become the best son."

"Don' rush 'em, love. May be tha' they jus' wanna be mates an' not married. Doesn' matter t'me. Justin's family anyway."

"My mother would kill me if I didn't have a celebration at some point. Might as well be a wedding someday. But not just yet," Justin nodded. "We're both sorting out our future."

Kate finished her breakfast and stayed to speak with her father and brother a while longer. When she was ready, she sent Kell to tell his grandfather the news while she went to speak with her grandmother. Kitty was resting after a long day, but Kate was still met with that same warm smile that she had grown so used to.

"Are you feeling well, Gran?" Kate asked, kissing Kitty's cheek gently as she took a seat beside her.

"Exhausted, but very well," Kitty nodded. Off to the side Heather and Ashelin were asleep under her watch. Vincenzo was off to fetch things for making her special tea, and would return shortly. "You and your Wolf looked absolutely perfect last night."

"Thank you for helping Ma with my dress. It meant the world to me to know that I was being taken care of by the both of you." She said softly as her grandmother looked so worn but still so vibrant. "He proposed last night before bed."

Kate allowed her grandmother to see her ring then, the silver shining in the light from the fire. "Da helped him to design it."

Kitty sat forward, taking Kate's hand as she looked at the ring. "Troublesome boy... Waited til just after midnight, didn't he? I suppose he did promise to wait..." Kitty had known about his plans to propose, and she chuckled to herself at how he'd done it. "I'm sure he would've proposed nearly a year ago if we'd let him. That boy just adores you." Kitty drew Kate in to kiss her cheek. "How do you feel, love?" Kell's proposal was no surprise. It had really just been a matter of time.

"I love him, Gran. Probably as much as you love Papa." Kate said with a smile on her face. "And I know that he'll make moving to Edinburgh less of a burden and more of an adventure. If he could bring all of you with us, I know that he would."

"He could try. But we know where we belong, love. While you two have a new place, we keep the old. But one day, you two might return. When the throne is passed on, you two can always come home," Kitty told her. She knew Kate's heart would always be in Inverness.

"And you'll come to see me be crowned, right?" Kate asked, knowing that her grandmother's health left her at home more often than not these days. "I want you there with everyone else. I really want to wear your crown on the occasion, but I suppose I'll have to settle for doing that at my wedding if you'll let me."

"It hasn't been my crown for a couple decades now, darling. It's your mother's," Kitty told her with a smile. "I'm sure she'd let you use it. Marianne certainly wouldn't mind. But I will be in Edinburgh for the coronation, even if we have to take the journey slowly."

"Khelt can help get you there too. He would take good care of you." Kate said softly as her grandmother promised to be there at the coronation.

"I'd appreciate the old Wolf's help. He's crafty as they come. And if your grandfather and I needed help on the way, Khelt would know just where to go." Kitty smiled to herself. She had met the Wolf in her youth under dire circumstances. But lately, she'd grown fond of him.

"I'm happy to know that you'll be there. However, first, let's talk about a lovely little wedding for my wolf and I. Just our family there." Kate said as she settled in for a long talk with her grandmother.

"Well if you're doing that before the coronation, we don't have very long. But that's no problem," Kitty nodded. With the coronation only a few months away and Kate and Kell being expected to return to Edinburgh two weeks prior, that gave Kitty two months. But she had put together beautiful weddings in far shorter periods of time. Namely Brogan's to Julia, which she'd only had two weeks' notice for.

"You know, I do still have your mother's gown. It was mine once as well. But it's up to you whether you'd like it or something new. I'd have to adjust it as you're a fair bit smaller than her, but that's nothing."

"I would be honored to wear it, Gran." Kate said as she reached out and took her grandmother's hand to squeeze it. "I would like to wear your tiara and a Skye shell if I could as well. It would all mean the world to me."

"I can do that." Despite the decades and the heartache associated, Kitty still wore her own Skye shell that her late first husband had given her. She had another that had once been Ashelin's, and Warwick had given it back to Kitty after Ashelin had passed. Everything she kept had a story.

"Than I'll be a proper Ghis bride." Kate said with a chuckle, knowing it was a tradition among the women getting married that they would wear something passed down from Kitty.

"And we'll make sure your Wolf has a little green to go with his outfit to match," Kitty nodded. The gown was a lovely pale green, still delicate and in perfect condition despite being half a century old. Kell would want to stick to his usual dark and neutral colors, but like Kate's birthday, Kitty would certainly get him a sash or shirt to match.

"I'm sure he would break his own rules for the occasion." Kate murmured, glancing over towards the twins as Ashelin stirred, lifting her head and rubbing her eyes sleepily. "Good morning, love. Come over here and sit with Gran and I."

Ashelin was soon in Kate's lap, snuggled against her sister's side as she dozed off and on. It made Kate smile, knowing that she would miss the moments when she was in Edinburgh.

Kitty sighed, leaning over to brush Ashelin's hair back fondly. "I'm not looking forward to anyone else leaving the keep... It was hard enough with my own children. Then even when Annie just moved across town, things felt so much lonelier. I don't know if I could stand it if not for your grandfather and your mother and father and Ciaran sticking around. I know Sam or Rho will probably leave one day too, and one or both of the girls."

"We aways come back, Gran." Kate said softly as she spoke about being lonely with everyone growing up and moving on. "And I don't think the boys will go anywhere. Rho is training to be king and Sam is his right hand. I don't see Heather getting too far away either. You have so many more years with them all."

"I know I have time, but it's hard not to think of it all when such big changes are happening. All good changes, but still... I'd hoped to keep you all those little troublemaking children a little longer." Kitty smiled to Kate. "You and Sam and Rho used to be the worst."
