Ghis (closed)

"It must be a good feeling to know that he's moved past his life that he once had to a much better one." Julia said as she took a sip of her tea. "And I know Kate adores you."

"She does?" Khelt asked with a pause, his Wolf ears perking forward in confusion. That had caught him off-guard. As a longtime assassin whose best relationships were short-lived and only working partnerships, he wasn't familiar with being liked. He was used to being fearfully respected at best.

"Kate has always enjoyed those that have come for different or difficult backgrounds. She finds them interested to talk to." Julia said with a chuckle as she thought about her caring and compassionate daughter. "She would enjoy the chance to sit and talk to you one on one."

"Hm..." Khelt looked back down at the cup in his hands. "We may have to do that sometime..."

"I know you're a secretive sort, but she'd like to know more about you, I'm sure," Kitty added.

"She might soon become your favorite Ghis. She's very smart and she already has Brogan wrapped around her finger." Julia said with a chuckle as she glanced towards Kitty. "I think Kitty started the process when Brogan was younger, however."

"Kate is a lovely girl," Khelt murmured. "And she's loving, but stubborn enough to challenge my grandson. She'll keep him on his toes at the very least."

"She'll make him go grey far before his time. Trust me on that." Julia said with a grin as she thought about the silver strands in her own hair that she had gotten from worrying about her often wayward daughter.

"Good. It'll make him look mature, and less like a troublesome cub," Khelt chuckled to himself quietly.

At the same time, Kell was in his tower with Kate, curled up in the bay windowsill with her as the rain streamed down the window and distant thunder rumbled through the keep. Kell rested his head against Kate's as she read through one of his books translated to Lunar. He was still teaching her the tribal languages, but she had a good handle now so he was simply there to help when she couldn't figure out a word. He had a book of his own in one hand written entirely in German, but he wasn't really reading. He was simply relaxing.

"Gran wants to give us a proper honeymoon." Kate commented out of the blue as her wolf held her tightly. "I told her we just need some time here with our family. That's good enough for us. She's still insisting that she's going to send us somewhere, however."

"Apparently they're planning on Inverlochly or one of the islands neighboring Skye." Kell nuzzled against her cheek. "I don't mind where we go, or even if we go anywhere."

"Inverlochly might be nice. However, whenever my family goes there, they come back with a pregnancy." She said as Kell nuzzled against her. "And I don't think we have any business bringing a cub into the world just yet."

"Not yet," Kell chuckled. "We'll save that for when we're settled in Edinburgh and comfortable with our work."

"Well, I leave it to you as my protector to make sure that a little one doesn't come too soon." Kate teased him.

"I'll do my best, love," Kell kissed her cheek and relaxed back against the wall with a content smile.

"I've never seen you this relaxed before. Maybe we should just stay engaged." Kate said as she tilted her head back against his chest.

"I'm just enjoying the calm before the storm of Edinburgh," he murmured, draping an arm around her.

"We could move the entire capital here to Inverness. It's within my rights as the queen to set up my government wherever I please." Kate commented as Kell wrapped his arm around her to hold her tighter.

"Within the High Throne's lands, yes. But I'm afraid Clan territories are independent, love," Kell chuckled. "And your father might support the High Throne, but he likes his Independence."

"Spoil sport." She said as he pointed out that Inverness was independent and free. "I could conquer it. Easily."

"Your father would absolutely destroy us," Kell laughed. "We wouldn't stand a chance. He knows you too well."

"That's what he thinks. I can be quite ruthless when I need to me." She said as Kell chuckled, her head turning to kiss him with a sweet sigh.

"Is that so?" Kell murmured, returning her kiss with a little smirk before his lips pressed to her neck.

"Absolutely." Kate said with a sigh as he pressed a kiss against her throat. "My Da taught me well and my uncles trained me."

Kell's arm wrapped a little tighter around her and he left his book aside, giving her ear a tiny nip with a smirk. He loved to tease her, though he never pushed too far.

"Khelt." She murmured, trembling slightly as he held her tight and nipped at her ear. "You make me ache in the worst way possible."
