Getting bumped

I frequently get bumped from chat. I mean a lot! I've changed browser. Changed accounts and such. No better. Is the a setting that might be causing it?

Are you accessing chat via mobile by chance? If so, it's probably the phone itself pausing/killing the browser's thread to conserve energy/memory. Can reproduce this on mobile, not on desktop though.

It's more than likely a bug that has been around for decades - the session‑handling service is unstable.

That is why the chat workaround - wait a few minutes and log in again works.

I doubt if it will ever get fixed. As always this is my opinion and YMMV.

This has been an issue since i became a mod back in 2019 so yeah...not real likely it will be fixed.
