Hello all,

I'm new to this site and forum. I registered, then submitted a story. I'm wondering how long it usually takes from submission to posting. It's been about a week and a half since I submitted it. I haven't received anything saying that my story wasn't accpeted for placing on the site, but the story hasn't been posted either.

I'm hoping that some of you that are more experienced with the workings of this site can shed some light on the process for me.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Wildcard Ky and a warm welcome from me.

Cool nick, btw.

As for your question, the resident Question answerer, MathGirl, isn't around at the moment, so I'll attempt to fill you in myself. ;)

Stories usually take between three and five days to post, but they can take much longer if there is a backlog and/or a busy period. I submitted a story a couple of weeks ago, and it took eight days to post.

The length of time for acceptance and subsequent posting can depend on a number of factors. If there is uncertainty over the category you chose to post it in, that could add time. If you submitted a non-consent/reluctance story, that can often take longer to post, as it is read through in more detail. If you submitted it via email, or uploaded a file, this could take longer, especially if there are formatting issues. Like I said, there's many factors, those are just a few.

Sit tight, give it a couple more days, if there is still no joy, give Laurel a PM.

All the best,

Lou :rose:

Thanks for the reply. My story was uploaded from a word file. Perhaps that explains the delay.

Being as this is my first attempt at writing something for public consumption, I guess I'm a little anxious for it to get out there so I can start getting some feedback on the story and my writing skills.

Also, thanks for the compliment on my nickname. A lot of thought went into it!!

I was exactly the same, when I submitted my first story. And it hasn't changed much now, actually. I was checking the control panel every hour, to see if it had been submitted.

Sending your first story out there, to be read by the masses, is a huge deal, and a pretty big step. Good on you for going for it. When it finally gets posted, give us a link, and I, as I'm sure many others will too, will give it a read.

If you'd like, I can e-mail you the story. It appears that you are quite the writer, and I would truly appreciate your opinion of it and my writing.

Yeah, Lou's one of those disgusting types who have good looks and talent going for her. That's not the case for those of us who have to make do with BS and footwork.

Welcome to the board Wildcard KY. With your handle, I assume you're a Wildcat, not a Cardinal fan. (Now let Lou and the other Limey's try to figure that one out.) :)

LOL, actually I'm a big UofL fan. I have nothing against the cats, but love my cards.

The nickname came from the line of thought of don't judge by what you first see. A 4 is just a 4, unless someone decides it's a wildcard for that hand. Then the next hand it may just be a 4 again. It's kind of how I see my self. Part of the time I appear as an unremarkable part of a larger group. At other times I am something completely different, just like a wildcard in a card game. I like to think that I mostly have control over which side of me is presented at a given time.

So that's how the name came to be. The Cats/Cards thing was just another little indicator that I had chosen the right nickname.

Yeah, sure, send it through. I'll PM you with my email addie. Also, can I ask, which category does it fall under? It doesn't matter much to me, but it could affect my perceptions of the story. I like hard-hitting stuff, but I do like most categories, with the possible exception of Celebrities and Incest. But, like with any category, if it's a good story and well written, any possible bias against certain topics will go out the window.

I must warn you, though, it could take me a few days to get back to you. I've taken on a fair bit of reading recently, for other members of the AH, and possible stories for my site, and I owe a couple of critiques to a horror writers' group I belong to. Blah de blah. ;)

Thank you so much for your kind words, btw. And you, too, Rumple, you sweetie!

Got the PM and have sent the e-mail with the story attached. Thanks for all your help.

Since "The Question" has already been taken care of, along with nickname comments, I'll just extend my welcome to you. :D

I always send my stories in Word. And I must say that it is going on 15 days now for my last submission, and it is still pending. So it must be a busy time here at lit.

LOL!! Don't take the ma'am thing too personally. It's a southern thing to call any lady ma'am.

Phew....Since my thirtieth birthday, I've been feeling pangs of being *gasp* "old"....mostly because I am reminded constantly by my "still in their twenties" brothers and significant other.

However, I can handle being a lady. *grin* You're forgiven.

Aaah, don't you worry about whisp. At her age, senility's kicking in anyway... She'll prolly forget all about this tomorrow..

Raph, running for the hills.

Thirtieth birthday? Now I'll do my gentlemanly part to make you feel a bit younger. My thritieth birthday was damn near 8 years ago. 30 seems pretty young to me.;)

Ps. Thirty-eight is still young! I think. It depends on what morning you ask me. *grin*
