Get Well StarryNightin64

Thanks guys :rose:

I can lose the sling. The ortho Doc is VERY impressed & happy with the post surgery progress. I get to start at level 2 PT with the head PT lady & team 1 since I asked & pushed for a PT with multiple injury experience. Even tho it's the left shoulder this time there are just some things I just have no business doing with all the other new body parts.

I stopped at the PCP's office to make sure my PT referral gets done by Tuesday. I got worked in for a fast visit with my doc. He's not to happy about the crap his office manager put me thru pre-surgery while he was on vacation. He's talking to her ass after hours tonight. He was all no worries on my meds & anything else the team needed to keep things rolling in a good fashion.

BONUS it's official I've lost 18 pounds since March 2nd mainly due to the nausea & the pain. Not a great way to lose the weight but I'll take it as a bonus.

Tough way to lose weight! But glad everything else seems good. Get your strength back up, try soups?

Keep at it. :)

The past week or so I've been craving fish. I'm not a fish eating girl but my needle Doc said if your body is craving it go with it. So far I've done 2 fish sandwiches I may try some more tomorrow. Before that I was craving chili.

MMMM, fish and chips! Yum! :rose:

I know, I was thinking pub myself. :)

So far it's taking longer to get the pain meds built back up in my system. I get acupuncture needles this afternoon. I always have a couple good hours after that. So I thought I might try then for an early dinner.

Ok the first PT eval is this morning. I'm a little nervous. They had me go without the sling this past week which has loosened me up some, but I'm clunking now. I've gotten to where I carry the sling with me to put on to protect me. Grocery shopping without it was horrible. I did wear it most of Saturday while hanging out with Miss Vi for the VA volunteer lunch.

I can't find a way to be able to lay down now to sleep without it hurting. Even laying back against the pillows makes it clunk and hurt. So I am not sure if that's good or bad. I never clunked on the other shoulder.

So I guess gator wrasslin' is still out for a while eh? ;)

probably. No surfing, hang gliding or other fun stuff either.

This was the head PT for Team #1 and she STILL had a hard time understanding that this was tendons 5 & 6. We were going over all the new parts & she's was ok which Achilles is new... I had to say both a couple times for her to get it. They are gonna have to up their game. Everything she covered today I already do.

She even looked at me strange when she only gave me 3 simple PT exercises to do 1 - 2 times a day. I asked if I could do them at least 3 times. I guess people don't ask for more PT?

Glad to hear your healing up nicely. Guess im not going to be able to tie you up the way you like me to for a while longer.....

HA! As tired as the PT made me today you could tip me over with your finger tapping my nose. Just the driving alone, the time at the mini-battlestar (that's what I call the ortho complex I go to) and I stopped for $20 of groceries really kicked my butt today.

Here's a fast copy of my post from Facebook to fill everyone in. I'm so tired and sore it was just easier to do 1 write up to share. Tomorrow is needle say. I'm hoping Doc works his magic and I can come home to sleep 3 hours or more in a row.

Well that eval went weird. The PT lady didn't quite "get it" when I explained look I know I'm in here for the left shoulder but I have 4 other new tendons and a partly fused back. Some things I have no business doing. I even had to explain the Achilles twice. She asked 2 times which was new... BOTH. Everything she went over I already do. The 3 easy exercises she asked me to do 9, I did 12. She said do them once or maybe twice a day.... I'm all how about 3 or 4 times a day. She looked at me like I was strange. Something tells me she doesn't hang with anyone military let alone Marine or Sp. Ops. Why are jocks not into team work????

I'll give the PT staff one more chance on Thursday to work with me at a competent level then I have a talk with someone higher up.

I wonder if I need to pull and print them info on what my soft tissue disease is & how it effects my body. They have half the exercises she gave me just for posture which isn't going to do a dang thing towards helping me. It just tells me she didn't have a clue what my soft tissue disease is or how it effects my body. Then telling me I can't wear my KT Tape 24/7 cause it won't help. I've worn it 24/7 for over 2 years and it helps hold the shoulders and helps shift them to where they are supposed to be. All the exercises in the world will not help if my tendons won't hold them in place.

I expect a PT Team Lead at this level to be a prepared professional and smarter then I am or at least willing to say let's figure this out together. I'm just an educated patient with a messed up body.

Hiya Starry :) give em hell, makes healing more fun. Get well soon eh? We have that Iron Man Triathalon to do this Summer, remember?

lol, Sure....
Thanks Sweetie but I may be throwing iron more then anything.
Cause they still won't give me gun!!!

This morning's attempt at PT was really ugly....

Miss PT Thang jumped me in the waiting room at today's PT appt. She asked how I was & I said I wasn't a happy camper. She pushed for more then went off on me after I told her how the eval on Tuesday was a huge waste of time & should be redone. So I explained I could & would be calling their QA Director. That's when she announced to everyone I was a big pain in the butt since I walked into their office last week. There's no she said - she said on this with a room full of witnesses. She pulled us into a meeting with the other supervisor. She went on this whole defensive verbal spillage & then was kicked out of the office. The other Supervisor has been around even longer then I have there and asked what happened. Nice lady has 13 years in there as a OT, I have in 10 years as a multiple tendon patient.

Nice lady removed Miss Thang from my care as well as her team. She is having a talk with her & knows I will be calling their QA Director (& I have). I even offered to drive 90 minutes to main campus to get a PT who is willing to work with me & my messed up body but the nice lady would like to keep me there to make sure I am treated good. If Miss nasty thinks I am a bitch for asking for an experienced PT to work with me then surprise... I also called Humana to document what happened. Seriously Miss Nasty half assed the eval Tuesday it really should be redone & today's apt didn't happen at all. So how those are billed will be an issue. I think part of her problem was she was pissed to be even doing an evaluation, like it was beneath her to do so

Just want you to know I'm thinking of you. Been busy with my Dad (fx hip, 24 hr care givers, etc). Hope you continue to do well...

Hey Sweetie I was thinking about what you've been going thru too. I'm back making my Honor Flight calls and had a couple Vets about your Dad's age this time. Spend as much time as you can with him. Get his stories down for the family to remember down the line. Time is precious my friend!!! :rose:

OOOO and I'm sucking it up & not taking any crap from anyone.
Why don't people just want to be nice & do their jobs???
Is there anyone left who does their jobs???

Thanks, Starry... Good to hear you are standing up to the bullies.

FYI... I just found out the VA will reimburse my Dad up to $1800/month for his care givers. (Not covered by Medicare). I had to find his original discharge papers and that was amazing. WWII, honorable discharge from the navy, effective Oct. 12, 1946! Not many from that generation left. (He was born 1918).

Keep that DD214 copy around safe. It will help you with more he needs too. If anything pops up you need me I'll PM you my direct info. Just cause most of my team is here doesn't mean we don't work national. :rose:
I'm so glad to hear some positive progress.

Fired the ortho team's PT Dept Fri after Mr PT Boss called me, implied I was a liar, a foul mouthed cursor, the system shows I had no appt Thurs so why was I even there & no one on the team ever mentioned her calling me a PITA in front of the whole waiting room so that NEVER could have happened. Plus in creeper mode he was going to be observing each of my sessions like I'm some cracked out criminal waiting to explode. So I washed my hands of the whole thing & called Humana, added a grievance on him to the 2 on her & let them deal w/ the children. Humana said I don't need to go there for PT & sent me a list. Mon I get reset up.

I'm wiped out. Been running since 8 am. Canceled ALL the PT appointments at the old nasty PT office. (That was a HUGE relief). Humana sent me to my PCP's office. they got my new referral set up & printed out for the new PT. Ran up to that place, met the owner & got my paperwork to fill out plus set an appointment for a new Eval on Wednesday at 3 pm.

So it's a start over & I think a good fit.
They have a therapy dog there who greeted me at the door. :)

W00T! W00T!

AWESOME day yesterday. My Needle Doc I played hooky and went to the SOFIC Coalition Forces Invasion. It was such a cool time and so worth how tired I was last night. http://www.fox13news.com/news/local-news/144863054-story

Had the PT eval with the new guy/ place yesterday. LOVED the whole experience. We're both on the same page on how to work the PT & on pushing hard. I'm ahead in some areas... strength & movement towards the right side area. The reaching towards the left & over my head are not great. He thinks I have some adhesions started there that I'm going to have to stretch out & break thru to get where I need to be. All doable.

Glad to hear the new PT is working out better than the old one. :rose:

He's not going to like me Tuesday. I can only get in 5 reps of the cane stretch before I hit the nausea wall. then I have to stop, rest & try again. So his 15 reps at 3 times a day has been a try all day long off & on thing. I found a friend to stop by on Monday to get the pully up so I can finally do that exercise here at the house. <sigh> this has all been crazy & much harder then it should be.

Doc thinks if I could find someone who does deep tissue massage work it would help tear up the adhesions. So I'm looking but still pushing things hard here. I've even tried sleeping with the arm up to help stretch it out.

I managed to go help hand out flags this morning at the local national cemetery. The kids support groups placed 36,000 flags on the graves in 45 minutes. Monday I will get dressed in real clothes to help with the service cause they are short handed. (I'm not looking forward to trying to get the bra & polo shirt on over the shoulder) Then after PT on Tuesday morning I'll be over to help collect & repack the 36k in flags for next year.

Ok I survived my first full PT session and then stopped over to our national cemetery after to help collect the 36,000 flags set out for Memorial Day. It took us from 8 am to 1 pm to pull the last flag. I'm a little stiff and sore today but not too bad.

A few years ago Memorial & Veterans Days turned into a full week for each.
