and wintermute.

your absence was noted, Angie, and it's not good to hear you've been sick. get well asap.:rose:

wintermute - man-flu is no laughing matter. to men. get well, too. *passes you a tissue and a glass of hot lemon with honey* :rose:

kindly keep your germs from invading the forum, thankyou; it's a zoo in here and we may just need to call the vet.

Thanks guys.

I have an inflamed retina, which really sucks, but I am on painkillers which makes me not care so much. Ahem.

I'm also on a course of steroids which is making me eat everything that isn't nailed to the fridge so I am not thrilled about that. I will know in a few weeks whether or not I'll need surgery. Even if I do it's a relatively simple procedure so things could be way worse.

I'm looking rather piratical and I am not supposed to strain my good eye. eagleyez is taking very good care of me and thank heavens for books on tape!

I'll be around a bit but I have to pace myself.

Thanks for the thread Ms. B and all of you for your good wishes, here and in pm. :)

If I don't respond to stuff right away, you know why.

*Hands Wintermute a cough drop.*

Simple? Isn't the retina in the back of the eyeball? Are they going to pull your eyeball out of its socket?

I once had a few stitches put in my lens where it was punctured near the iris by the needle of a coaxial cable ( don't ask ). I had to be awake during the hour long surgery because it was necessary for me to look this way and that on command. Worst experience of my entire life.

Okie dokie, if that story didn't traumatize you ..... hope you have a speedy recovery!!! :)

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, guess this is one of those things that chicken soup wont cure but it couldnt hurt :)

hope you avoid it, and at least you can find the fridge (i couldn't find the spoon without looking sideways which makes for amusing dinners)
The worst thing is sometimes the vision comes back with a vengeance and then fades from strain.
Did you get a real patch? Parrots are the new Black this year.

No patch, and I doubt I could deal with my kids saying "Arrrrr" to me if I did. I have a gauze dressing and these strange glasses that have lines on them that make them look like they have window blinds.

No parrot either though we did have a series of thoroughly annoying parakeets when I was a kid. Not quite the same thing, I know.

Mr. Mag, the surgery if needed is similar to cataract surgery, but I've been slowly improving so I hope to avoid it. The main thing to me is to get off the corticosteroids asap. Like gm said, they are some evil drugs. Coaxial cable, huh? Yikes.

Thanks again, folks. :rose:

Ange! Get well soon. :rose::heart::kiss:

Good luck to you. I hope you have a speedy recovery and surgery isn't necessary.

Although it's hard to find the positive when you're in pain and unsure of the outcome, I always try to anyways. I guess the silver lining here is some lucky guy will think you're giving him a really long wink? ;)

Take care :rose:

Thank you and nice to meet you. :)

I am slowly improving but will get reassessed at the end of the month. From the way things are going I'm pretty hopeful.

I'm sneaking in some writing here and there just cause I can't stand not writing.
