Can literoica get more active moderators working on the site?

In my relatively short time here, I have seen so much been said, that I can't believe there is so much gotten away with.

Sure, there are links to report offensive posts, but they're a joke, nothing is ever done.

The only thing the moderators seem to do, is remove pictures that are actually on topic for an erotica forum like this. (Yes yes, I know US law dictates what can be shown here, although I think that is a weak excuse when you consider that you could hire a server anywhere in the world, Did anyone think of Canada, per chance?).

However, there are plenty of things that do not belong on this forum, that are here daily, and are not removed even when reported.

I read a post from someone talking about the general board today which said "There is as much common sense on the General Board as there are moderators". I think this statement speaks volumes.

So please, can the organisers of the site (which are who btw?), please look around for extra moderators, because it's really getting bad out here.

Thank you for reading.

Laurel and Manu run the site.

As for the GB, to my knowledge it has no moderator and that's as the owners want it. On the GB there are some people that have moderator under their name but I don't believe they are. Haven't read anything that says the policy has changed there.

If there is anything that breaks LIt rules do report them. Personally I've had good luck doing that and even got an email letting me know it had been dealt with and thanking me. They don't always act on my comment but that's their right. They pay for the site. I don't.

I'd like to see specific examples of the behavior that you're talking about. Are you talking about trolls or is there some kind of major rule-breaking going on?

I lurk on other sites' message boards, and one of the things that I really like about Lit's boards is that the rules are relatively few and the mods are, for the most part, pretty much hands-off. Because Lit's owners are huge proponents of free speech, I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you don't like the way things are run around here, you could always ask for a refund. :)

What are these offensive posts and things that don't belong on this board, in your opinion?

Literotica prides itself on promoting free speech, provided that speech doesn't harm anyone, violate US laws, or disrupt the site. Those things are what the FORUM RULES address. If a post doesn't violate Lit's rules and general policies (e.g. not posting cruel comments in AmPics), it's left alone. It'd be a pretty shitty place if mods removed every post/thread that offended someone, and we didn't feel we could speak freely here.

In addition, for the most part, Litsters police themselves. In most forums, reporting posts that violate the rules and having a mod there to keep an eye out is perfectly adequate. Most of us prefer this approach to having tons of mods eagerly awaiting semi-questionable posts.

If you're offended by the posts and lack of moderator action on the GB, perhaps you should stick to the softer, moderated forums (The Playground, AmPics come to mind) AND/OR exercise the Ignore feature on the members who repeatedly offend you.

Or, if you're really offended, you could always find other boards that meet your moderator level of satisfaction. I hear http://forums.plentyoffish.com/ has a billion rules and moderators who don't even pretend to like free speech.

Front Page of Literotica Discussion Board See right hand column for moderator names.

Forum Rules Highlight of last paragraph:

Anything else goes. You may post whatever you like. Consequently, so can everyone else. The administrators here don't believe they are anyone's parents nor are they anyone's Jiminy Cricket. It's not their responsibility to make sure that everyone on the site uses free speech responsibly. It's up to individual users to be responsible for themselves. For those who are not, the programmers at Jelsoft have added an ignore function for your convenience. Just go here and add the user you don't want to deal with anymore.

In short, we believe in the First Amendment, and offensive content will not be removed unless it breaks one of the rules.

As to where the servers are located, I think (timidly) that location of the server does not negate adhearence to US Law 2257.

Free speech works all ways. If I find something personally untoward or annoying I can speak up or click away. I'll take that over my words and thoughts being moderated. Sometimes you get what you pay for -- at Lit you get more. The more depends on the view one takes.

Ignoring for the moment that you go on to suggest unethical behavior in the very next line, and that your question has little, if anything, of a "How To" nature about it, I will nonetheless disagree that "...nothing is ever done..." in response to reports about particular posts.

The General Board, as you might've discovered or noticed by now, is unmoderated - deliberately. If you find it too chaotic, or just not to your liking, don't go there. In the other forums it is my experience that the moderators act, but don't always agree with the complaints. It's possible, just possible, that they have a better understanding of their niche and responsibilities than the average person posting in any of the diverse forums.

Can I moderate you? Would I want to? Nah, unmoderated is the way to go, of that I'm sure. ;)

excuse me... can someone please direct me to the people in charge? i'd like to make lit EXACTLY how i want it... for no particular reason other than i prefer to be the standard for all of civilization.

crap. sorry. didn't mean to get snarky before the 10th post there. my bad. :(

Low standards are still standards. :p

By the way, who are the owners?

Yawn. It's been done before. :)

Not true, not true! I saw one, it was in the "How do I end my love of the Nub?" :p

You seem pretty thin-skinned. Are you sure Lit is the place for you?

Trolling

Troll list.

Flame bucket
Take care, Eilan - DrDav might construe the above as flaming/trolling and report your post! :p

Yep, DrDav, it looks like you should stick to AmPics and The Darkroom. Folks in The Darkroom have called foul and asked their mod to lock a thread calling that forum stupid/pointless (or something to that effect) because it was *gasp* too negative for their tastes. If you want every comment you lay your eyes on to be lovey-dovey fluff, those should definitely be your new haunts.

You're welcome, but no need to thank me so profusely, really. It's my pleasure to help you and your tender sensibilities find a new home!

Anyone who has moderator powers in any forum will show up as "Moderator" unless they have over a thousand posts and choose to replace it witha custom title.

Of course, anyone with over a thousand posts can use the custom title function to change it to "Moderator" even if they aren't one.

To answer the thread topic: To get more moderation, go to some other forum. Larel and Manu have the level of moderation they want in the forums they want it in, and the majority of longtime litsters enjoy it that way.

I come here because there are no moderators.

I'd be bummed.

Why, Santy Claus, why? Why did you take my flaming away? Why?

Why my sweet darling Mary Lou Who, I was taking the flamerthrower back to my workshop to fix it. I'll bring it back ;) .

And his fib fooled the child. So he patted her head and he gave her a flame and he sent her to bed.
