Not saying what all that caffeine might to do your blood pressure, but hey, there are always trade-offs....
A new study says that men who drink coffee have a reduced risk of developing lethal prostate cancer when compared with nondrinkers.

Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health looked at data collected from 47,911 American men who had participated in the Health Professionals Follow-Up study. This was a study that looked at variety of health issues for males. As part of the study, the men reported their coffee consumption every four years between 1986 and 2008.

During that period, 5,035 cases of prostate cancer were reported, 642 of them fatal. Researchers concluded that men who drank at least six cups a day had a 60 percent lower risk of developing prostate cancer, and men who drank one to three cups lowered their risk by 30 percent.

Here you go, gents. With love:

You know, when you enjoy coffee as much as I do, savoring every sip, it's hard to drink very many cups. There are only so many hours in the day, after all. Still, I'll just have to try harder . . .

6 cups or more? Husband and I drink what I think lots of coffee, but if either of us had more than 3-4 cups a day, someone would have to scrap us off the ceiling.

One to three helps, too. And my cups are rather large so . . .

Curses! I despise the taste of the stuff!

(sigh) Guess I'll just have to have it on my headstone: Wouldn't Drink His Java.

I drink a pot a day, on average... definitely a coffee lover. None of that cream or sugar, either. If I wanted hot chocolate, I would drink hot chocolate.

I suspect that while the men said they drank six cups a day, they probably filled up the cup six times but maybe didn't completely finish them. The study isn't all that scientific in that regard--it didn't give these guys six full cups to drink a day, it just asked them how many on average they had a day. We don't even know if those were 6 cups of straight black coffee rather than lattes or espressos.

So, probably, 3-4 cups a day will do. I mean, hey, even if I'm wrong that still means 30% prevention!

More coffee, fellas? http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/usa/websites/business/franchise/images/coffee-shop.jpg

Mmmmmmmmm...coffee. I probably drink 8-10 cups a day on the average, so I'm virtually immune. None of those sissyfied coffee drinks, either ... dark roast with cream, sugar and a shot of espresso...turbo coffee...woohoo! :D
