Genetics, or Not?

I think its because they are fast food babies....Macdonalds, pizza...etc....and they drink a lot of milk.....I know for a fact that the livestock industry uses growth hormones and steroids etc.

Your livestock argument doesn't hold good for the UK where there is also an increase in the height and shoes sizes of kids. We ban growth hormones and the import of meat that have ben treated.

It's all the fault of MacDonalds. They have been secretly adding human growth hormones to their fries! By 2020 12 year olds will be wearing size 20 shoes!

Mischka.....They arent my biological children...I married a girl with three teenaged boys.....I dunno....I have size nine, nine and a halfs....all my buds do....or size tens....

Gawd, that's hard to read. And it takes longer to type elipses than periods. I'll never get that trend.

Yes, I read that they were not your biological children, but I was confused over your reaction to seemingly normal shoe sizes and growth patterns. Every kid I've ever noticed is gangly around that age - longer limbs and larger feet/hands than the rest of their bodies. It's part of growing. Since you have small feet, I guess you don't have as distinct a memory of such growth patterns.

The kids sound completely normal to me. I'm not an expert on growth hormones, etc., but several generation of men in my family have gone through the same growth pattern. Your wife would not be indicative of the growth pattern of men in her family.

The larger the bone structure....

The greater the incident of joint problems, and bone density impedence. It may be fun to be tall for awhile, but time bends all trees. I'm happy to be a Pict. It is the availability of food/genetics/radiation/hormones and magic combined that create these future basketball players. :D

Actually, there have been several studies to show that childrem are reaching peuberty faster, and are growing larger then ever before. However, the causative factors are hard to isolate. Many stidies point out there seems to have been a trend to lager people over the last several hundred years at least. This could be partially due to diet, health care, sanitary conditions, reduction of phsyical labor, and reduction of stress. It is also true that many hormones in our food do not break down in cooking, and could potentially effect the grow paterns of our children. The unfortunate truth of the situation is that conclusive evidence is hard to isolate due to the high number of factors involved. I would say we knowhormones in any ammount can have drastic effects on the body, it would be best if you can to avoid feeding your children foods that may have them present in them. Especially when thee are so many organic alternatives.

Ok....this isnt about Homosexuals, Overweight people, or where anyone gets their software, so I should be safe.

I've noticed a strange trend.

I have three teenaged stepsons.....all with huge feet and very large hands and long fingers. My eleven year old wears a size ten shoe.

All of their freinds have the same deal. 12-15 year olds with size 10 or 12 feet and long fingers.

( I know what you ladies are going to say....relax)

We went bowling when in Georgia....and there it is again....a kid went with us, and he was 13 with and needed a size 13 and a half bowling shoe.

Have any of you noticed this in teenagaers?

Young girls with oversized breasts also?

Neither my wife or her ex has any of these traits... ( The milkman doesnt either)

Is this genetics at work....skipping generations.....or is it what I think....Growth Hormones in the food chain.....I.E. Livestock..beef, milk, etc commonly used to enhance production.

Is this a trickle down effect, or what?

I believe it is......
