Generation Jedi

I have an almost uncontrolable urge to scream, "It's not Leah, dammit!" at the top of my lungs, but that's because I'm a spelling geek and a control freak not because I'm a Star Wars geek. ;)

(I really do need professional help....)

Damn ... you beat me to it.

Yes, my first name is made up of my Lit name, so I am cheating. But it sounds cooler than the one made by my rl name and the rl one kinda gave away my first name.

geek confession; it is my daughter's middle name...

That's the smile I needed tonight.

behold my geek-fu:

1. i have played all of the star wars RPGs (pen & paper version): either 2 or 4, depending on how you count.
2. am attending the midnight premiere w/ my wife, my GM and the GM's cousin.
3. played yesterday, and while i considered playing a jedi in that game, decided that for the good of the group, my wife should play the jedi while i play something else entirely.
4. the mrs & i spent most of the 1 hour drive home from yesterday's game session debating what plot thread we should pursue next.

Going with the Jedi name thing:

Dafra Kuham.

Kinda wierd, but I think it works.

If it was the first 2 letters for the first name, and the last three letters of the last name, I would be going around as:

Dance

I don't know about that one.

*In a highly tense situation aboard the commander star destroyer. Master Jedi Dance and his padawan, Boogey, face the commander Sith fleet.*

Boogey: Master, they have us outnumbered three to one. What should we do?
Me: Well, just hang in there. We are stronger in the force and numbers means nothing to us. Use your training and cast aside your fears.
Boogey: Okay. Dance.
Me: Naw...not right now. We're a little busy, don't you think?

I don't think George is jumping on that plot line anytime too soon.

Rabec Firoc.

Seeing that I've hated all the new Star Wars movies and all the changes Lucas made to the old ones, I will not go see 3 to see how he fucked that movie up, too.

I'm sorry, but 1 and 2 were just too disappointing. Natalie Portman's character might as well have been played by a 2 x 4, the Anakin worship was disturbing as hell, and I didn't LIKE any of the other characters. I might as well have stayed home and played Crack: The Addiction* on my computer.

*aka Magic: The Gathering

Not only must I bow to your superior geekdom, but I think that I may be required to worship you as a god.

LOL,

I'm home :)

Have spent hours on the road with my brother debateing the various plot corners Lucas has written himself into and how he will get out of them.

One of the few movies I own on DVD is the trilogy. Both the original and the remastered versions.

If you are of the right age, it's just hard not to have been sucked into the galaxy far far away :)

i am but a fellow gamer & an evangelist of gaming: do not worship me, but rather, the power of polyhedrons! :D

btw: the mrs & i watched ep 1 saturday in preparation for ep 3. while watching, i was struck by how many interesting facts are revealed that get follow-up in ep2. plan to watch ep 2 either tonight or tomorrow, in preparation of course for the premiere as well. :>

colleen: that's rather a lot of holes though, isn't it? :>

Yeppers. Lots of them. Although he did a pretty good job with some things. Like cutting the jedi down to size. It seemed rather hard to swallow that they could be wiped out by Vader, but after episode 2, you can see there aren't many left.

Still, he's got some explain to do :)

is it weird that i'm hearing that delivered in the ricky ricardo voice?

"jorge, you got some 'splainin' to do..."

:>

I may have a new favorite person on this board... Lucas should've stopped at one.

Star Wars is still my favorite movie of all time, but I raise my hands and make the warding sign of a cross at the fans. As for the geek competition: all I've got is that I had to fight back tears when the bright sunlight hit me after stepping out of the theater that first time (because only then did I wake to the fact that it was just a movie--and I was a teenager).

Mituc Raaga (with my maiden name it would be Midel Raaga). Either way is weird.

I'm not that much of a Star Wars geek. I am, however, surrounded by them. My soon to be ex and my oldest son are both HUGE fans. Ex is going to the midnight showing with his brothers; he bought the tickets weeks ago. My seven year old is severely pissed that he might not be allowed to see it at the theater. My three year old already knows most of the characters and is dying for his own light saber. And... I recently had to buy a certain kind of cereal so we could have a light saber spoon. Unfortunately, now I need two more cuz everyone wants their own.

I saw the first (4th) movie when I was a freshman in high school (with a boy who was a freshman in college). He was a baaaaaaaaaaaaaad influence -- and we were quite stoned. The alien bar scene thus struck me as beyond hilarious. To this day, that music sends me into giggle fits.

Hubby and youngest two whelps have been watching the series in preparation for episode 3. I think they may be planning to camp out at the cinema on Wednesday night.

I have to you all beaten in sheer geekiness as a Jedi kid. After I saw "Empire Strikes Back," I would put on mukluks, saddle my horse, and ride through the woods yelling, "Luuukke!"

I wish you could have seen my parents' dismay when I clomped out of the house in pink furry boots on my way to search in a very loud clear voice for Luke Skywalker. It was about 107 degrees outside, but in my mind, I was searching the frozen wasteland of Hoth. :D

My first piece of fiction was to write myself into Star Wars as sort of an interstellar space urchin/latent-Jedi. I was ten-years-old. Wow. Memories.
