I read a lot of posts here of men attempting to write from a female perspective, or wishing to do so.

The reverse seems much more rare.

So, are there any female writers who do enjoy "internalizing" the perspective of the other gender in a story?

It'd be interesting to see how women do in that respect; after all many male attempts are not always convincing, even when I've read good quality exceptions.

I wrote Megan My Dear from a male perspective. I thought it was challenging and interesting. I'll definitely try it again. If you want to read it, click on the link to my stories in my sig line :) I was a little rushed and there are a few typos that my word program missed, but overall I think it's a decent take on the male perspective.

edited to add...I thought you were going to suggest a story where someone switches genders. Hmm...anyone have any ideas on potential stories? I don't recall discussing that as a topic. Girls posing as boys, boys posing as girls...why? When does the "unmasking" happen?

Male POV

I like writing from the male POV, and I think I do it just as well as I do the female POV. A few people have sent me feedback saying they couldn't believe the stories were written by a female (and one so young as that, one added)

Check them out. They're not all bad.

I don't know if The Rape was "convincing" or not, but it was my first attempt at writing from the male point of view. I wrote it many, many years ago. I've had both positive and negative feedback from readers of Lit so far. Maybe I'll try it again sometime?

also I think it's much more realistic when a female writes the male perspective...just from what i've read.

Hi
I am new to this site, and am waiting for my first one here to be published.
But, although I am in the middle of another story right now, I have had something cooking for some time, connected to a game I once played on a computer.

This has given me the idea and remberance of that.

So very shortly I will start work on it, and it will involve things from a female POV and male as well, and will be be a sci fi fantasy.

Could be fun, both sexy and maybe some comic situations as well if it works right.

Such as maybe going to sleep as a man waking up as a woman or something ?

or maybe a man in the middle of a gang bang suddenly becomes the woman or another woman and is made to join in ?

not totaly sure yet where it will go or what turns it will take, but, could be fun to do.
AlleyKat (hope this post works right *lol*)

I enjoy the challenge of writing from the male POV. Since I am a woman and (aside from a few bizarre dreams) have no idea what it's really like for them, I like to see if I can guess correctly. No complaints so far! ;)

Kind of fun, isn't it? I've gotten a really positive response to my first attempt so I plan to try to use that "voice" more often.

one plus thing about using male first person is that there's no way the readers can think to themselves that it's my true life experience - because only two things i've ever written were, but people seem to REALLY think that everything is fact.

I hear that...the number of feedbacks I get saying "I hope this is based on your real experiences" is frightening.
