It's probably been asked before, and if it has i apologize. That being said...

i've been considering doing a gay male piece for the nude day competition coming up. Problem is... i don't know what the male body feels like during the whole shebang. Does anybody have any tips or tricks to get into the mindset of the opposite gender and make a story written from that POV more realistic?

Advice from a novice?

Read read read... ask, or just plain close your eyes and feel it... sometimes getting the point of view of someone who has no real idea is refreshing, eye opening... it reminds the rest of us what we've forgotten. What we take for granted. That's just me. The novice...

Welcome aboard, and thank you. Probably the best advice to get on this.

Can't help you. I'm so straight you could use my sexuality for a ruler. ;)

LOL - RG (shaking head) you are a guy no? I doubt you have to be gay to describe the reaction of your body during sex. ;)

Much obliged. I appreciate the welcome and hope it helps.

Believe me, turn about is fair play. I'm sure I'll be begging for help. I know nothing and find that gets worse day by day!

i'm right there with you. Mommy brains.

Well, keep in mind that a clit is really a minature penis. So if a lover takes his/her time really sucking on your clit so you can feel each part, that gives you some idea of how a guy feels getting his cock sucked--not, perhaps, the real thing, but it's as close as we're gonna get without hormones and a sex-change operation.

And, of course, if you've sucked a penis then you know how to write that.

The hard part for a woman writing a gay male piece (raises hand) is not the penis. It's the scrotum. We just don't get scrotum. How delicate it is, how vulnerable, the difference between the feel of the skin without and the nuts within--how it itches, needs to be adjusted, feels in another's hands...or feels when it tightens up and is ready to feed out the sperm for ejaculation.

Nuts are hard (that was a very bad joke there. Feel free to laugh). As is ejaculation.

Anal you might have experienced, but there's no doubt a difference between prostate and g-spot. We girls just have to wing it there.

Obviously, the best thing to do is read some pieces here written by gay males. I recommend Ken Nitsua, he's awesome. I especially recommend Justin's Jock.

Just remember that readers do fill in the blanks. We don't all share the same sensations during sex, and even if we did, you don't have to get in every sensation. Having a guy say, "That's wonderful!" while another guy sucks on his balls is sometimes all you need. And if you're really in doubt, keep the p.o.v. from the guy doing the sucking rather than the guy being sucked. ;)

whimpering in pleasure is much better than saying "That's wonderful!" :)

Men are people. Write about people. The difference is anatomic and not that hard to get believeable...just read a handful of male pov (gay or not) stories, and you'll get the hang of it. besides, I think too much detail in that separtment is not a good goal from either perspective. Because the experience does not only vary from gender to gender, but from person to person. So of it gets too specific, a moment will relate in a direct way to less readers.

This is intimidating as hell.

ETA: I meant writing Gay Sex. Never done it before. Good luck, Ent! :)

I disagree (not on the latter, though).

My thoughts:

A womans body does not react like a mans - the increase of pressure to the cock in phases as it hardens, the tightening of balls. A woman's body reacts much different, and to be believable in a sex story, one needs to know the reactions, and the problem is that everyone is different. Reading a story is not always the best research method, as not everyone knows their own body, nor can they write about it, as we see often on Lit.

When researching a gay male story that I wrote, I talked to a lot of guys, and came to the conclusion that you need to take all that you get and then spin it into how you might react to the sensations they describe to you. Let me tell you, the feedback I got from gay males was spectacular, even if the story was too sad to be a turn on.

Know the male body and then thru your eyes - feel it - and that's the best way to get another gender across.

Thanks for that insight. The voice of experience is always best...and I'll most certainly keep it in mind for my next story ;)

Well, I'm not certain, but for starters, don't you mean, "hebang?" :p

Rumple Foreskin

I have basically the same problem only in reverse: writing lesbian erotica as a male. Not having any first hand experience to draw upon I am reduced to my imagination and the information gathered from others.

To augment and correct my imagination I tend to draw, (sometimes heavily) from other writers I respect in the lesbian catagory. I read what they have written and draw from their experience. When I first started writing I reviewed the works of Colly (one of the most prolific and talanted writers on this site IMHO) rather heavily for help. Not to say the I copied her work. But I tried to get a feel for what the characters were feeling and then use that in my own work. I also looked the writings of Lucky, Imp, Abs and others. I used that knowledge and experience to help flesh out the weak points in my imagined notion of what it felt like to be a woman having sex with another woman.

Apparently I've been at least a little successful. I've recieved feedback from many women who had no idea I was male. (Writing under china-doll).

I've just realized that I do exactly that. I think I knew that I did but not conciously, if you understand?

Thanks as always, Thirteen...
