My day started out at 4:00AM with a long, wet lick followed by a poke. After rolling over and telling the dog to go back to sleep, I slept in until the late old hour of 5:00 AM. Hearing an urgency to the dog's whimper, I stumbled out of bed and kicked The Boys outside while I made coffee.

By 6:45 I was on the road, the sun had just peaked over the mountain and traffic was blessedly light. I watched a bird seemingly hang in mid-air above the pond where I take my dogs swimming, then dive in to the water sending water four to five feet in the air. I searched the surface of the pond and still somehow missed the bird take off out of the water; I saw him about 15 feet in the air, squirmy fish-breakfast held tightly in its claws. What an amazing thing to see on any day, let alone my birthday!

Work was work. I had a nice card from my boss and colleagues. After work I stopped off at my favorite nursery to peruse this year's offerings. I hemmed and hawed, and finally settled on some ivy for the north side of the house, and some daisies for the sunny side of the house.

Home now, I popped on Lit to see this thread (and Throbbs', too!) and smiled. Thank you one and all for your well-wishes. You've made me smile. I think sometimes the best thing in life is to not be forgotten. So, thank you.

American girl, McKenna, was seen hanging out in the mall with her friends on her birthday.
"I wore the pink hat to keep Abs' away" giggled McKenna as she nibbled lady like on a giant granola cookie. "I'm spending the day in the woods communing with nature". Cartwheeling out of the mall, she drove off.
