I have to admit that I think Geena Davis is a very sexy woman! I really like her in this outfit

LOL!! That's 'cause you can see her nipples! You don't fool me Shyguy. ;)

That's a flattering picture of her. Geena is getting a little long in the tooth these days.

you know what though

I don't have any children - but if I had a daughter - what kinda message do these 'stars' show our children? Flaunting their bodies is okay - rampant sexual acts are normal? (see the videos on MTV) I mean come on - moremoney for less clothes is ridiculous and here we are drooling over these women who have personal workout people make artists do them up before they leave home - cooks to prepare their Slimfast shakes and when all else fails - book themselves into a health spa for 3 months!

Uh, that's where the parent comes in. YOU teach your kids. YOU give them the building blocks for self esteem. YOU show them right from wrong. If YOU are doing your job, it won't matter what messages anyone sends your kids.

First of all

April, you're wrong it's not just because I can see her nipple I like her! (don't worry, I know you were kidding April ;-)) I've always thought that she's a very attractive woman, no matter if she's dresses in skimpy clothes or not.

Second.

I also think it's wrong that girls in our days almost hurt themself to be as skinny as many models and stars are. It's totally wrong and so unhealty.

I for one don't put to much meaning in how a person looks, personality is very important to me. And to be honest I do like a woman with nice curves, because I don't like to get bruises when I fool around with her.

If your children are learning from their environment that the goal is to be skinnier than everyone else or whatever--you, as the parent, will be fighting a losing battle most of the time.

A parent sho spends maybe 10 to 15 one on one time with her child will not be able to undo the 40+ hours a week in the company of others who are also bumbling about in learning their place in society and what is expected of them. Add to that 40 and extra volume that is their "hang out" time. Add to that the TV time and Movie time.
Also, you can't forget things that teach some interresting values such as cheerleading and other sports where kids are learning some very non-moral behaviors. (I am not attacking all cheerleaders--but when the nearby cheerleading teams go into Luby's on competition nights and these girls all look around 12-15 and their asses are hanging out from under their skirts and their tits are hanging out of their half-way unzipped "jackets"--this is a direct lesson that is repeated over and over to the kids on what is valuable about them. Of course, this is just one example.)

Of course, it is the parent's job to ensure that the child is exposed to what s/he is capable of handling and is mature enough for. It seems to be a rarity though from what I observe. An example, if your child is not mature enough to begin dealing with her sexuality, for example, then the parent has no business putting a bikini on that child--a bikini says "hello--here are my sex organs and tits!" On a 12 year old--this is never ever appropriate.

One thing that I have noticed though is that the only parents who I personally know that actually spend real time with thier kids
are other families in my church. None of my neighbors do anything with their kids that doesn't involve a TV set.

Can't have quality with your kids without quanitity.

Oh--and as for me--it seems that no amount of logic can overcome all the years I was part of the system where only the beautiful people can be winners. Even though I have a carreer and I am a pretty good parent and I have a home and have reached an age where I can never be mistaken for a child--I still can't get the daily and constant thoughts about my appearance out of my mind. It is very frusterating. Logically, I know I am a great catch. But when I look in the mirror, I would not wish myself on anyone.

Enough of my ranting.
