Geeks for Geeks...

The story line wasn't bad and I had a crush on Quistis. She looked so cute and sexy in her teaching outfit and glasses with that hair... mmmm... Quistis. I think she is my favorite FF woman.

i prefer Tifa...i like the idea of a woman with that kind of strength.

I never liked Tifa...the character just seemed kinda wishy-washy and hollow, a total support to Cloud, who was pretty much a blank. Quistis and Fujin were my favourite ladies from FF8 (Seifer being my favourite overall, I think...maybe Fuu or Quisty, hard to say), and I did love the story. Game mechanics of it sucked, though.

FF6 for some reason is stuck in the shadow of FF7. IMO the overall story in FF6 was superior and I prefered the ensemble cast. Also, Kefka is my favorite personal villain of the series. The worst has to be whatever they fought at the end of FF8.

I think it's stuck in FF7's shadow because FF7 was the first game for Playstation that took full advantage of the system's hardware. Remember, prior to FF7, the Final Fantasy series did not have wide-reaching popularity it does now. Most people I know played FF7 before they played FF6, so therefore they prefer 7 to 6.

What I love about 6 is its sheer depth. Nearly every single character had a backstory that was explored over the course of the game. Along with that, their stories actually were quite well-done and compelling. Things like Locke's story with Rachel, Edgar and Sabin's decisions for their kingdom and personal growth, and Terra's struggles trying to find a place in the world made the game worth playing over and over again.

That and the original soundtrack was the best done in any game I've ever played...with the possible exception of Shadow of the Colossus.

Mmm...sountrack-wise it's hard-fought between FF6 and FF8. Both games were Uematsu's best works, and pieces like The Landing (FF8), versus Dancing Mad (Stairway to Heaven has NOTHING on thirteen minutes of Kefka goodness - FF6) make it a VERY hard decision to say which game has better music.

By the way, everyone should go google up and listen to Chrono Symphonic if they like old RPG soundtracks and enjoyed Chrono Trigger's. It's a beautiful re-rendition.

I love the Celes-Locke love them from FF6. The one they play during the opera!! That is one of my favorite pieces of Uematsu's.

I do have an operatic version of the theme on one of the soundtrack discs.

EDIT:

It is called

Aria Di Mezzo Caratrerre

Yes, agreed completely. Was it ever redone the way it was originally composed?

You mean with actual performers as opposed to the 16-bit sound? Yes.

Chrono Cross was highly underrated as a soundtrack, too. The Liberation of Marbule theme was sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Man, my pulse still gets a little quicker when I hear The Landing.
Ten's music was pretty damn good too, if you prefer it a little more moody or sad.

:D Yay for Final Fantasy is general.

Wow.. I completely forgot this thread was around!

Come on Geeks! Lets keep this thread up near the front!

Are non-hardcore geeks accepted? I might slip in somewhere between "clumsily witty" and "coldly calculating." Is it a requirement to use your geek powers for the purposes of good?

I'll agree to that ^^ Nerd is what I use to be, ohhh the days of me being teased, picked on because I was too smart for my own good. Then I got into art, now Im a physically fit, art geek who isnt afraid to take on the jock. ^^

Hi Everyone.

This seems the right place to be... although the difficulty factor is multiplied with me, Geeky, mischievious, australian (g'day!) and tall... This makes it difficult to find people living in Brisbane to do things with (or too!)

Well, I was thinking mischief and nerds but the rest seem to be valid arguments as well.

You're right Z, an art geek can kick a jocks ass in five minutes. Just do a simple sketch and they'll be freaking out going is that me? Is that me? I hope that's not me. Used to happen to me in school alot...LOL. Still happens at school, and some of my jobs too. Sketching got me in alot of trouble...

Was told of this thread by my close friend...
