Geeks for Geeks...

Civilization I, II, III, IV, Alpha Centauri, and Rise of Nations are evil, evil games. I can remember many nights during high school when I'd always stay up for just one more turn, which inevitably turned into a couple of turns...and then a couple of hours. Typically I'd go to bed around 5 AM...

I am right there with you.

"Hmm..it's only 1 am. I can play til 2am!! ::time passes:: OH MY GOD! I can see... oh shit.. the sun's up. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! ::goes to school/work/passes out depending on the year and time::"

And I never even realize it! Even when I do stuff like have a clock nearby or have a watch or whatever, it simply never worked! I had to give up because of insomnia and declining grades, haha.

It's weird because video games never do that to me. It's only when I'm on the computer...

Both did it to me, BUT, I do agree, it happened more easily on the computer. Video Games usually I could tell unless I was really engrossed.

Perhaps it is the computer monitor? That evil evil monitor is plotting against us all!! Last time I got involved so bad I didnt sleep though, it wasn't a PC game, it was laughing my ass off at Improv Everywhere's site.

Wandering around online does that to me every now and again. I get sudoku going, random people are IMing me, I decide to watch random crap on Youtube, and my iTunes getting a great set of random music going...and then all of a sudden it's 4 AM.

I think it's a distance thing. With my laptop, I have to be at arm's length. With video games, I can lounge around a few feet away from the TV and be more aware of my surroundings. Granted, some games can be really engrossing, but most of the time I can put them down without much trouble.

And, in some cases, a game can be engrossing AND make me want to put it down! Resident Evil 4 did a pretty damn good job of that considering how friggin' creepy it was at some points.

I've been convinced - somehow - to take part in an online game.

The soundtrack of that game still has not dislodged itself from my brain. That was hands down one of the weirdest games I've ever played.

Can I be a spiky-haired lead male character who wields a sword of some sort and rarely speaks?

Hmmm.. Cloud spoke. I think Squall was the only quiet one really...

Mmmm.. Tidus was yummy though.

The new guy in FFXII looks uber closet gay though. I don't like it when the male character is prettier than the female ones >_<;;

Ah, you are right. Forgive my sleepiness. I shall be retiring to bed shortly anyway.

Cloud had one truly awesome line. "It hurts" from the honeybee inn :)

I -died- from laughing. Oh man was it bad. I'm surprised that whole skit made it in there.

Anyways, night all :3

I'll excuse your mental lapses...for now!

So who's the best character from any Square-made RPG? Could be anyone.

I'm torn between Kefka and Magus...

You have made up for your mental lapse! :p

Night night.

Kefka FTMFW!!! As much as a lot of Square stuff really lacked depth, FF6 was one of the few that I think had enough to be a good story, if you read between the lines. Same goes for Chrono Trigger (GREAT stuff).

I like the idea behind these geek threads though...I really wish I had a nice geeky kittygirl to cuddle. :cathappy:

FF6 for some reason is stuck in the shadow of FF7. IMO the overall story in FF6 was superior and I prefered the ensemble cast. Also, Kefka is my favorite personal villain of the series. The worst has to be whatever they fought at the end of FF8.

agreed, though i found Kefka to be creepy...and i hated every aspect of 8 except the storyline, which wasn't bad

The story line wasn't bad and I had a crush on Quistis. She looked so cute and sexy in her teaching outfit and glasses with that hair... mmmm... Quistis. I think she is my favorite FF woman.
