Geek Pride Day! Official Support Thread

Good luck to all!

When does it end?

The mass publish is a fun way to do this.....

The category is usually super low and slow views, though. This one will take patience.

The story I posted early instead of waiting for the anthology has in two months received fewer than 1800 views. I think that's exceptionally low, even for SciF&F. But, typical of SciF&F, the readers responded with about 46 views/vote. The people who have seen it have reacted, and you can expect a similar response in the anthology stories.

One thing that may slow things down is that SciF&F usually only gets a few new stories/day. Adding 31 new stories in one day will dilute the readership quite a bit. Hopefully the promotion will bring in readers who wouldn't otherwise be there.

Not had a chance to start reading through the list, but I'm certainly looking forward to it :)

May your Geeking never cease!

Yeah, me too. Is there going to be a link to the stories on the main page?

Oh wow! That really sucks for you TANSTAAFL. No exposure on the New list is really going to hit you hard as a first time author. At least I have a few followers who get a notification when my new stories go up. Don't let that fluke discourage you.

I have a link to the GPD list in my signature, but that list doesn't show the teaser lines. Does anyone know if there is a better link I should use to promote the collection?

All of the stories are linked in the event announcement, which will be the last thing to roll off the category hub, and which Laurel could choose to repost.

Well, my first stand-alone story is up as part of this event, "The Tournament of Colors".

It's a bit of an homage to Super Sentai / Power Rangers, putting forth the idea that people are getting specifically trained to fight these alien invasions that keep taking place every year... and what happens during that training.

No comments on it yet, good or bad, but it's early yet, and I hope folks enjoy it!

I'll have a look. Just let me get my Gokai-Mobile.

HENSHIN!

*comes back, looking confused*

Where's the rest of the story? :)

Thank you for that kind comment in the story page itself, much obliged. :)

I actually *do* have some rough ideas about where to go with this.

Harrison Halloway came to mind for me a year or so ago, but the original idea I had was that we would see him years *after* his one-year tenure as the Leader of "Strike Force Wolfpack". That his tenure was marred by one team member going insane and having to be put down (which Harrison had to handle personally) before they went on a murder spree, another dying in the Final Boss fight, and other getting maimed in said fight, all of which was unfairly blamed on him.

So when the other Strike Force veterans gather at the annual "Striker Convention" which acts as a PR boost for the Striker program for the general public attending, but is also a way for all the surviving Striker veterans to be rounded up and given physical/psychological checkups so that they can continue to receive their pension... that Harrison is largely shunned at such events, nicknamed by some of the other Strikers as "Bloody Halloway".

Then I had the idea for this shower scene, which orignally wasn't going to be a sex scene -- Melissa and Harrison were interrupted by their friend much earlier in the original draft -- but then rewrote it to better fit this event. :)

I'm really glad you liked it! GoKaiger and Shinkenger are my personal favorite seasons of Super Sentai, and I'm also a huge mark for Kamen Rider Ryuuki and Gaim.

No problem. Giving a piece of my mind is easy. Putting it in such a way the recipient isn't offended is the hard part :)

I honestly haven't looked, but I would guess the amount of Tokusatsu-inspired erotica would be rather negligible, especially on here. That's a pretty unique setting you have and you build it up so easily that people who only have a fleeting acquaintance with Sentai/Power Rangers could easily understand it. And it shouldn't be too hard to transition from "Training Days - The Movie" to "Strike Force Wolfpack - when shit hits the fan" in all it's grittiness. I'd totally read it, even in small installments. Get to it, mate! :)

Thanks to toy reviewers like TJ Omega or EmGo, I've been infected with the Tokusatsu virus. Not so hard that I have to have all the drivers/changers, roleplay toys and vehicles (my lady love goes nuts every time I spend a small fortune on a new expensive Transformer anyway, just imagine how she'd react if I go all-in on these crazy, talking weapons!), but it led me to watch some stuff, like GoOnger, Kyoryuger and a bit of ToQuger, plus a whole lot of Kamen Raider OOO, Double and Wizard. Yeah, kinda old but I'm not that adept at finding good subbed streams (sadly. Love to see ExAid!)

I'm grateful for the one comment I've received so far to my Geek Pride Day story. But I might be a bit more grateful if it was from someone other than "Maria" who tells me "I want to try a one-time sex with an experienced man." I'd prefer a meaningful discussion of comma use or word choice or point of view.

Will do. Eventually. I'm a slow reader and have already done four stories today. MST's will take a bit, it's even longer than mine. And no, I'm going in no particular order :)

Thank you, but I wasn't trying to fish! You're under no obligation. I just thought it was amusing that the only comment I'd received so far was a fake one.

yeah I'm on my third deletion of that spam. Fkn assholes. The entire scifi comment feedback portal is filled with it. Every story is getting hit.

I guess the downside to events like this is some spammer has figured out they attract a lot of attention.

Yeah, the spam bots are doing overtime today. Maria's the third today on mine.

LOL! Don't worry, I've deleted Maria twice so far, reported her a third time earlier this week and it was removed in about 24 hrs (just testing).

As for comments... I expect interruptions galore because this is my last day of work before long vacation (then I can focus on ONE thing at a time, thank god!), but I've read the first chapter of "Planet of the Tentacons."

I have to say I like the set-up so far. A strong hint of very enjoyable cheese combined with the movie "Arrival" (which I loved), exactly what I expect for a story with this title. :) And you are definitely hitting my Biology Geek buttons repeatedly already with what I've learned about our Tentacons so far, particularly the aversions to certain colors/patterns, which makes instant sense to me.

It may take some time to get through the whole thing, but I will finish and I will offer feedback. I want to enjoy it, and chapter 1 more than passes muster for me in wanting to keep going. :)

More Maria Spam

Two Maria Reports for me so far. I'm not deleting them in case the Admins can find something useful to block the a-hole(s) with.
It would be nice if "Anonymous" commenting were allowed only for members with verified emails. A person could comment anonymously, yet there could be tracking information for the site if necessary.
Maybe that could be a third option: No comments, Anon for members only, allow comments.
Just an idea. Cheers!

Do you have BitTorrent?

Try these folks:

Toku fansubbers. They do great work.

And if OverTime doesn't carry the show, TV-Nihon likely will.

My main struggle as a writer is Conflict. I have a whole novel written about a romance that blooms at an Anime Convention, but it's lacking in any real tension or conflict -- everything goes too easily for everyone.

I may still publish that story here on Literotica under the Novel/Novella category in sections (it's over 90k words), but I want my next story to have higher stakes, real conflict, difficult choices, and tension for the reader. I'm not sure if I want that next work to be an erotic story, or more straightforward adventure fiction.

Huh.

My take? Low readership, but appreciative readership.

Not bad!

Looks like I have some reading to do this weekend :) -:heart:thank you everyone :heart:

I may even leave some comments seeing as I completely failed to get my "entry" even close to finished.:cattail:

Yep. I've ust read one anon comment saying they:
enjoyed it more the second read than the first, a sign of a writer who knows his target readers.
It's 10 Lit pages - those sci-fi readers are prepared to do the work :). Also, why I never close down anons.

As expected, Clearwater is lobbying for #teamjonahisgay, and Maria has just dropped by.
