gay male science fiction and fantasy?

Hi I'm trying to find some new books to buy, can anyone recommend some good gay male romance/erotic novels with a nice science fiction or fantasy setting, one with real worldbuilding? I would prefer to avoid anything with vampires, ghosts, violence, or tragedy - happily ever after endings only.

i remember reading a bunch of gay oriented fantasy books in the early nineties but the titles escape me~you should try to see if the "a different light" bookstore has a website...im sure they do. they have an entire section.

i can suggest the following graphic novels from dc comics and vertigo: the enigma, the authority , and codename: knockout for somecomics that feature prominent gay characters.

okey Lynn Flewelling's "Night Runner Series" is a beautiful fantasy story about a young boy being picked up by a half elf thief/nightrunner. And the relationship and love development is great, and its got stacks of action.

Another series that has a gay relationship developement is "The Black Magician trilogy" by Trudi Canavan. THe characters are minor, but still beautiful.

So are you looking for stories with explicit sex or that has gay characters and the sex is hinted at (which in my opinion can sometimes be better for the story.) I am an aspiring writer and am intrigued by writing in this area. Anything in particular you look for?

I would prefer stories which have both romance and explicit sex. Steamy romance novel type stuff (only smarter, romance novels too often have dumb authors, dumb characters, and are intended for dumb readers). I'm a writer too, and this is what I write, gay male sff romance/erotica with intelligent deep worldbuilding and exploration of psychology and philosophy.

Books.

The Reliquary Ring by Cherith Baldry is a good gay fantasy novel or The Chosen Ones Trilogy by Ricardo Pinto.

My favourite book of all time is Making History by Stephen Fry, encompassing great writing, sci-fi and male love. I recommend it to everyone I can.

They're not very steamy though.
