Barrel Racers by Gary Bowen.

BLESS THE THUGZ AND LIL' CHIL'RINS by Fredryk Traynor.

Of This World And The Other by John Coriolan.

Blood Warm by Robert Burdette Sweet.

The Ram Stam Boys by Chris Kent.

Dancing on the Barricades by John Coriolan.

Sex And The Single Camel by Phil Clendenen.

House of Broken Dreams by Byrd Roberts.

Brothers Of The Night : Gay Vampire Stories by Michael Rowe.

Vampire Thrall by Michael Schiefelbein.

Alternative Sexuality in Science Fiction and Fantasy Wendy C. Darling.

Breathe Deeply : Gay Werewolf Novel by Don Bassingthwaite.

A Garden Called You by Jamie Joy Gatto.

Let me know if you know any more.

damn

if i wasn't so far in the closet i would definitely buy that "Best of Both Worlds" books. Sometimes trolling for really well written stuff on lit gets old, heh. its funny, there was a time when reading erotica that had any serious undertones to the "good stuff" would have seemed, well, stupid. porn pretending to be something its not, i mean. i guess i just needed to find stuff that appealed to my inner drama queen.

you read anything this good online?

I've read a lot of good stuff on life.

Some of the best authors on Literotica.

I have not read it but received this recommedation from a friend recently:

"Fingersmith by Sarah Waters, who is apparently a famous lesbian writer. The book is described to me as "Victorian-era thieves and rogues, with lesbians!"

I do not know contemporary gay male writers who are known, but most intriguing would be past gay writers? When was the first gay male erotic novel published, as an example? :) Now THAT would be fascinating. How long has the gay aesthetic been around. Did lesbians come first or gay guys in regards to erotic lit? Porn, even?

Thanks for the thread, it made me curious. :rose:

Great thread! I think my personal favorite would probably be Stone Butch Blues. Another good one is Written on the Body. I finally managed to finish Rubyfruit Jungle a few years back but I didn't like it very much.

A really awesome set of books by a lesbian author is the Xenogenesis series by the recently deceased Octavia Butler. And a good one by a gay man is Dhalgren by Samuel Delaney. Both of these are sci-fi classics.

Let's see, what else? The Kate Delafield mysteries are not bad, a little on the cheesy side perhaps. (That's the character - the author is Katherine V. Forrest.)

More to come as I think of them!

The best gay novel I've ever read was....THE LEATHER DADDY AND THE FEMME. I read it years ago, when I was in a relationship with a woman and we spent the summer together in Los Angeles. I was new to the big-city lesbian scene yet I was fascinated by the story of a bisexual girl's relationship with a hunky, Gay leather daddy and his macho lover.

I have that, but I haven't read it yet. I'll have to move it up the list. Thanks for the recommendation!

It's so well written, not necessarily what I would call erotica but very definately a reccommended read.

You have it ??? Do you have any idea how much trouble i had to go through to get it ? Bookstores around Boston didn't have it in stock so I had to search for it online. I love the Tom of Finland picture on the cover. Finally, I grabbed it from the delivery service and read it all in one weekend. It pleased me greatly. Reassured me that I wasn't the only female with a thing for gay sex. I recommended it to some straight women I knew and two of them actually bought it.

Ooh also very good are books by Val McDermid. She did a series about a Lesbian journo - they were okay but her later stuff is fantastic, if you like crime novels. Her central characters are not always gay/Lesbian but each book features gay characters and a gay storyline floating around nicely in the background. My personal fav is "A Place of Execution". Quality writing but again not big on the gay characterisation so I guess it just depends on what you want.
