I think I have a virus, but because my lack of Internet Explorer.. I can't have my brand spanking new Nortons on my computer

I'm not going to DL any more browsers on this computer until I can get this friggin' problem fixed.

My mouse has been acting up bad.. sometimes my computer acts like I don't have a mouse, other times my mouse moves wildly around the screen without my prompt...

Are there any quick virus scans sites I can go to that don't require IE? The one Draco recommended for someone else needs IE :\

Try housecall......I'm not sure if you need ie or not though.

now the scroll bar in the middle of the mouse won't work at all...

and my start menu keeps flicking up like I opened it, but I didn't even touch it.

:(

This one doesn't *require* IE..... http://housecall.antivirus.com/

Housecall is the one Draco recommended for me. It worked great but I think you do need IE. Send him a PM Licky... I think he is still around. Which browser are you using?

I only have Netscape... IE doesn't exist on my system due to operator malfunction  yes, i'm a dumb-ass.

Not a dumbass Licky... human and a great one at that.:rose:

Have you tried restarting your computer...no idea if this will work or not but its always the first thing I do if I have computer problems.

Thanks you two kiwis.. never without a kind word you two are. :rose:

Debbie.. I can always access the sites, but after DL'ing the products, they won't run without IE :( and trust me, I've restarted.. I have to restart about 20 times, on a daily basis, just because this computer has gone all freaked out on me.

I'm DL'ing housecall right now, I'll try the other one if this doesn't work.. thanks for the links Bob :)

Any time :)

Wish I could have been more help.

Virus software is always a must....as well as a good firewall.

That's what us Kiwis are for Licky. We are the feelgood agents of the southern hemisphere. We have to balance out the Aussies.:D

I feel like someone is in my computer, hellbent on driving me crazy

it is freakin' taking forever to load the virus check page :\

There are many good ones for free...Zone Alarm and Black Ice are two of the better ones. Use them both for double protection. :)

Well, supposedly I have no viruses...

Now my mouse opens the start menu, then flys up to the top of the screen and opens all the drop down menus.. then flys around the screen. and my hand hasn't moved it anywhere.

I think it's possessed.

Adjust your mouse's properties on the control panel.

Also, your mouse may need to be cleaned.

Shut down the PC. Unplug your mouse. Turn on the PC. Shut down the PC. Then plug in the mouse again, and restart the PC.

Any one of these MAY help.

You may also try

Try a different mouse if you have one....perhaps a cat chewed on the cord, or it got pinched, or lord know what else....try that mouse on another machine to make sure the problem isn't the mouse since all the problems you have mentioned are mouse related.

Also if you don't have a virus....and you have lots of errors daily....shut every thing down(all other programs) and run scan disk. Then defrag the hard drive.
After you have done this....see if the problem reoccurs, if you get that blue screen, or have to reboot multiple times a day, your windows software may be corrupted, and the only solution for that is formatting the hard drive, and installing windows again from your restore disk....hope you don't have to that....also depending on what version of windows you have. You may be able to restore your computer to a time prior to your problems. I know this is a feature on Win XP, and I think on Win 2000 or Win ME, but don't quote me on the latter two since I only support WIN 98 at work. Which is the system I am most familar.

Well good luck, and may the force be with you
