What is the origin of Montreal's nickname - "The Habs?"

"Habs" is short for "Les Habitants" which is just a french nickname for the Canadiens.

Stars rookie forward Niko Kapanen gets the NHL's first goal and Marty Turco is keeping evrything out so far...

Try rooting for the Thrashers. Two of the best young players in the league and the NHL's worst defense.

Where is the Boomer now that we need him?

Gotta go with the Sharks.
Coming off last years oooohhh so close defeat, I have faith they can do it this year.

(fingers crossed)

Go Rangers!!!!

The Rangers looked pretty good last night.

41 yr old Messier had a pair of goals Defense played well and they didn't allow a goal in 9 short handed situations( their demise last season).

I can only hope that they can keep it up.

Turco stood on his head last night.. that was a great game he played making 40 stops!

Meanwhile Belfour has shut up his Toronto critics/fans for at least one night with a 6-0 shutout.

Vancouver looked great, so did Detroit.. John Nabokov must have got some validation watching the Sharks get picked apart like they did.

I love how the NHL are setting up great matchups and rivalries right off the start.. Dallas vs Colorado, Florida vs T-Bay, Vancouver vs Calgary.

Gotta cheer for my Wings, but I have this sneaking urge to see Toronto do something this year.

Calgary looked weak.. I was very disapointed.

Freya, same here.. I wanna see Eddie shut everything the hell up and do something CuJo could never do.. win another cup!

Ya just gotta love Colorado's chances this year.

Yes, when Roy throws another game 7-0 in the semi-finals, I'm sure they'll enjoy their golf again next summer! Whiny assed babykins couldn't take it last year, what makes him different this year?

Anytime Roy falls flat on his face it's always cause for a smile and a cold beer!

What a great year Roy has had huh? Acts like a grade 'A' bitch when he doesn't get named to Team Canada.. Leaves the team.. only to see Canada win without him.. then his showboating ass gets stomped on by the Wings..

I loved it! I wanna see more action like that this year!

God, i hope Toronto does better than that in the standings. My money is always on Detroit (especially now they know how to rip Roy apart), but my heart will forever hold out hope for the Leafs winning another Cup before I fucking die.
